This is one of the most arrogant letters, newsletter, writings, Whatever, I have read. What rock in a cave did you crawl from under? you can't really believe ALL in a family, church, workplace, organization will Always agree with Your ideas or ways.

WHY; because Your not the "last word"; you are not perfect and after reading this it's obvious you're not a good leader. a good leader listens to everyone and then says come, let us reason. Not everyone will agree, but again; every group has those that won't agree but this is needed and it's "part of life"...

The fact that the Chief had to resort to using the pejorative CAVE people and spend so much time on this article to advance a position that he doesn't clearly state is a testament to his lack of leadership. It does prove that he did pay attention in College and learn how to write in political speak.

Reminds me a bit of our dear leader BO.

Good going Chief...now get your house in order to prove your point. Otherwise you continue to look like you are there simply to get that paycheck!!!

Funny, CAVES are usually the people who do not drink the koolaid and break out the pompoms every time a boss comes up with a dimwitted idea.
Some of us can see beyond the smoke and mirrors.
Honestly, I think those that do not question authority / stupidity are mentally disabled.

Good going Chief? Are you an F*n Idiot? How dare you call that fat slob a chief! Rick Hoppes wouldn't make a pimple on a real chiefs a$$!

This was the most ignorant, arrogant writing I have ever read from a supposed leader.

All this does is prove that Rick Hoppes is no leader and that he has no control of a department he was appointed to lead. He tries to say that their have been CAVE people under 6 different fire chiefs to justify his lack of control. That writing in itself is and admission of failure and it's time the Mayor and Council stepped in. Put that fat slob out to pasture to continue to graze because that is what he does best.

SAFER Grant paid firemen

"the department has continued to look for ways to extend the performance period for these 12 positions."

Don't worry I just found a way.

8 positions
Admin Office Staff
Fire Chief, Deputy Fire Chief, Assistant Chief/Administration, Training Acting Lieutenant, Captain/EMS, Lieutenant/Inspections, Lieutenant/Maintenance, Lieutenant/Supply(Logistics)

4 positions
Operations
4 assistant chiefs on a "Command" SUV

A little top heavy aren't they!

There you go I just found the 12 positions you were looking for.

In reality that is a lot of wasted man power for a small fire department that really should be mostly all volunteer.

Those 12 positions just described could staff 4 fire engines with minimum staffing of 3 per fire engine.

Those 12 positions just described could staff 6 ambulances. You read that correctly they could staff 6 (SIX) ambulances. The city already had 3 ambulances around the clock 24 hours a day which is really 12 ambulance crews. Adding those 6 more ambulance crews to the fleet would give the city 4 1/2 ambulance crews around the clock which is needed by the looking at the number of EMS calls.

John Tull said there were 739 fire calls? Hell no there were 739 times that a fire truck chased an ambulance.
