Police Continue Search for Missing 12-Year-Old Girl

Baltimore County Police, along with the Baltimore office of the FBI and the Maryland State Police Child Recovery Unit, continue an exhaustive search for Jasmine Leighlin Baker, a 12-year-old White Marsh girl who has been missing since Tuesday morning.

BCoPD has received more than 50 tips and has followed up each one. None of these tips has led police to the missing girl, but detectives continue to pursue the most substantial leads. Anyone with information about Jasmine Baker should call police at 410-307-2020.

Police have conducted exhaustive searches, some with bloodhounds, in the area around Jasmine's home in the 4200 block of Soth Avenue, 21236; around the Perry Hall Middle school, which she attended and where she told her mother she was going when she left home around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday; around her father's home in Baltimore City; and around all the sites mentioned by tipsters. Police have checked all the hotels in the White Marsh area and have reviewed camera footage from area businesses.

The FBI and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children have assisted with publicity for this case; the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children will assist with analysis of the girl's social media activity.

I heard about this for the first time on WBAL last night, and I was absolutely amazed when Jasmine's mother said that the school never notified her of Jasmine's absence. The mother found out when she called the school because Jasmine hadn't come home. I don't have kids in school. Is this how schools deal with unexcused absences now? This story might have already had a happy ending if Jasmine's mother had been told by 8:30 a.m. that Jasmine hadn't arrived.

To answer your question, Wicomico County schools, or at least the ones my children attend call in the morning to notify you of an absence.

If her mother had payed more attention to her communication with men on internet and chat, this may not have happened! 12 years old is way to young to be "chatting" with men!
