SEARCH CONTINUING FOR MISSING EASTERN SHORE TEEN

(CHESTERTOWN, MD) – Maryland State Police are continuing their search for a critically missing teenager who walked off from an Eastern Shore youth counseling facility almost three weeks ago and troopers believe citizen tips will be the key to locating him.

The youth is identified as Hunter C. Lemp, 17, who is described as a white male, 5’8” tall, 175 pounds, with short brown hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a light blue sweatshirt and black pants. Lemp has family in Parsonsburg and Mardela Springs, Md. He may attempt to contact family members in either location.

On the morning of August 28, 2014, Maryland State Police from the Centreville Barrack were dispatched to Kent Youth Inc., in the 7500-block of Quaker Neck Road, Chestertown, Md., for a report of a missing person. Troopers were told Lemp had apparently walked off from the facility and was last seen about 5:30 a.m. that day.

State troopers, area police officers, and deputies have been searching for Lemp since he disappeared. Investigators from the Maryland State Police Criminal Enforcement Division are coordinating the ongoing search and investigation, with continuing assistance from the Maryland State Police Child Recovery Unit.

Several tips have been provided regarding Lemp, but have failed to assist police in locating him. Investigators believe he is still on the Eastern Shore, possibly in the Salisbury area. He could be hitchhiking or seeking food, money, or other assistance in the area.

Lemp is not wanted for or charged with any crime. His family and State Police are concerned about his welfare. Anyone with information about Lemp or who may have seen someone matching his description, is urged to contact State Police immediately at the Centreville Barrack at 410-758-1101x7.
