PIKESVILLE, MD) – On this Fourth of July weekend, troopers will be looking for distracted, aggressive and impaired drivers as well as dangerous road conditions due to the pending storm.
Each of the 22 state police installations will have additional troopers on patrol conducting traffic enforcement. These initiatives will include DUI saturation patrols, speed enforcement as well as focusing on aggressive and distracted driving.
Troopers will also be on guard for any flooding or hazardous road conditions caused by the storm. Drivers are reminded strong winds and heavy rains can lead to standing water and cause power outages, leaving traffic lights not functioning properly.
The Fourth of July is a favorite holiday for many Americans. Families and friends gather to celebrate our country with food, parades, parties, and fireworks. For many people, the celebration includes alcohol, but the holiday quickly goes from festive to fatal when people choose to drive after drinking or drive aggressively.
To receive State Highway Administration updates on highway conditions, ‘Know Before You Go’ dial 5-1-1 or visit www.md511.org. To check traffic cameras, visit www.roads.maryland.gov and click on CHART. Up to the minute traffic advisories will also be listed there.

And if they don't find anything. They'll make up a reason! Where's that dog at?
There is incentive money on holidays with plenty of overtime. Go get em boys and girls!!!
Yep , Who let the Dogs ? Go get em Barney. Have a safe holiday & weekend party hard,But remember 2 be responsible. Don't 4 get call a cab or have a designated driver. Be safe & enjoy.
amazing how the worse drivers come out on holidays so the police have to respond, isn't it?
Excellent work MSP. Has nothing to do with money, since all cases cost the state money not make it for them.
Good let them go spend the 4th of July outside in a storm....noone else will be out in it. Maybe they will actually have to help someone!
They help more people than you can imagine on a daily basis.

8:58 the average driver doesn't respect the power of a vehicle or the potential to seriously injury or kill another person. People still text, talk on their cell phone, approach stops signs with only a rolling stop and run red lights frequently not to mention many feel comfortable driving 20 or 30 MPH over the posted limit. Yes cops need to set the example, but very few police have accident compared to citizens. Two wrongs don't make a right. Most cops have to attend additional driver training I.e. emergency vehicle operation course. How much training does the average person have, drivers education?
How can anyone say anything bad about the MSP?
God bless them and impersonally thank them for their service.
The nay sayers are idiots. Just phucking idiots.

Meant to say "I personally thank them"
