Troopers Investigate Fatal Crash on Coastal Highway, Rehoboth

Rehoboth Beach, DE – The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) is currently investigating a fatal crash involving a motorcyclist.

The incident occurred at approximately 1:40 a.m. this morning as Craig M. Shine, 26 of Nottingham, PA, was operating a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck southbound on Coastal Highway (SR1). The truck was stopped for a red light in the right lane at the intersection with Old Landing Road when a 2004 Kawasaki ZX6 motorcycle, being operated by Kenneth E. Hunt 2nd, 24 of Dover, was traveling south bound in the right lane of Coastal Highway approaching the pickup at a high rate of speed. As the traffic signal changed to green, the Dodge began to proceed south and for unknown reasons, Hunt failed to see the truck, causing the motorcycle to strike the rear of the truck.

Kenneth Hunt, who was wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Craig Shine and two adult male passenger, who were all properly restrained, were uninjured in the collision.

The Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing their investigation into this incident. Coastal Highway southbound at Old Landing Road was closed for approximately three hours as the crash was investigated and cleared.
