Liberals Are A Bunch Of Phonies

On New Years Eve the Downtown Plaza was literally packed with people celebrating and having a great time.

The Mayor and friends got on social media and did a fantastic job reaching out and drawing in thousands of people. However, Mayor Ireton in his self proclaimed way like to tout himself as a founder of the 3rd Friday event. I can tell you first hand, this is very far from the truth.

Nevertheless, Jim Ireton and Jake Day, (both of whom I did not see when I was at 3rd Friday) are pushing for their vision of a revitalized Downtown, yet it is very evident they did not reach out to that very same crowd from New Years Eve to support this 3rd Friday event.

Look, in BUSINESS you MUST push as hard as humanly possible, (especially after such a massive success NYE) to keep the MOMENTUM going. That is, IF you really support a Downtown revitalization.

So I'm taking these pictures and a guy walks up to me and says, what are you taking pictures of. I said, 3rd Friday and the Plaza. He said, but there's no one here. I know some will attempt to come on here and say this was more of an indoor event this month. Look, I was there and I can tell you flat out, I looked in the buildings and it was deader than I have ever seen it. Oh there were people inside but it was mainly vendors and a hand full of customers. Even the Bars were empty.

While your Mayor likes to claim 3rd Friday as one of his pet projects, (not true) he obviously fell asleep at the wheel this month. Pictures do NOT lie.

Jake Day was at 3rd Friday. Didn't see Jimbo.

I love how ANONYMOUS people come on here to defend Day and Ireton on a regular basis.

I was there and I did NOT see Jake Day. Could be he didn't have a ride to get there since he lost his driver's license. Then again, he could have used the bike lanes to get there. Hmmmmm

Quick to criticize, but you never offer viable solutions.

anonymous 9:24, I think my article DOES offer solutions.

I stated the Mayor did a fantastic job promoting the New Years Eve event through social media. I suggest he do the same for 3rd Friday but he dropped the ball.

Now you want to turn it around as if it is MY fault?

Do YOU realize what COMMITMENT means, or are you a "ONE NIGHT STAND" kind of person like Ireton?

Commitment means through better or worse, you stick with it until you can no longer take it. Is that who Jim Ireton is now, he can't take it any more. He blew his wad on NYE?

I ran for Mayor with a platform full of answers.

Weren't all 200 TAD students and their families at the fire house for their architect. presentations during Third Friday?

The mayor will say you photo-shopped out the crowds!

anonymous 9:32, I can't confirm how many were present but I was on the Plaza and never saw their presence. I highly doubt these young children had any interest in 3rd Friday though.

My 20 year old and his girlfriend went downtown and came right back home....their comment was, "Man, that was boring."

Or Maybe it was 3rd Friday in January!Fresh off the holidays and cold!?!

JoeAlbero said...

It was not cold. Cool, yes. Cold, NO.

The plaza is SBY's version of Ghost Light Road. There were plenty there on 3rd Friday. You just couldn't see them.If you camera had an infrared lense they would have been visible in the photos.

The main reason there were so many people NYE is because the local media pushed it and the volunteers should be commended. Ireton had no hands on making that event a success.

3rd Friday is great for business's located on the plaza.

Better yet, let's make every 3rd Friday Gay Day on the Plaza. Hopefully this will make our immoral mayor feel like he's accomplished something that will give everybody a warm fuzzy feeling.

anonymous 11:45, quite honestly its probably not such a bad idea. However, (with all due respect) I don't think Jim Ireton is too popular with the gay community. I have heard many a stories about his behavior in Rehoboth and that he has been thrown out of a lot of Bars there. He's done the same here in Salisbury but since he's Mayor he gets away with it.

Jim has been talking for years about bringing in the gay community because they usually have a lot more money and MANY communities have revitalized because of the gay community.

Because Jim lost all respect from the Salisbury gay community(I know this for a FACT) his vision failed about 4 years ago.

Poor old gay Jim, whatever is he going to do - just can't get support from anyone, anywhere.

anonymous 12:25, it's his own fault. He LIED to the Salisbury gay community and pretty much pissed the all off. He's immature and acts like a 2 year old, tearing off his shirt in bars, going in the ladies room and acting like a spoiled brat.

It's not his job to offer viable solutions. He is not the mayor and obviously someone didn't want him to be there where at the ballot box or at the ballot box(stolen election). And I truly believe Chuck Cook or someone had some insider info on the machines. Convenient how they supposedly broke down at the most notable building in the City of Salisbury, the 14 Million Dollar Fire Mansion.
