Nine men were killed and 48 others, including two young boys, have been wounded in shootings across Chicago so far this holiday weekend.
The latest fatal shooting happened just before 6 p.m. Saturday on the West Side, where a spray of bullets hit seven people on West Flournoy Street at Francisco Avenue on the West Side. A 48-year-old man, shot in the leg, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 6:26 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Four other people in critical condition and one in serious condition were taken to Stroger Hospital, fire officials said. One person in serious condition was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital.
