Psych Meds Linked To 90% Of School Shootings

From the moment news emerged Friday that a young man had carried out a horrific massacre of elementary-school children, politicians from local city halls to the White House have been restoking the age-old push for more gun control. While guns have been a common denominator in mass slayings at schools by teens, there’s another familiar element that seems increasingly to be minimized.

Some 90 percent of school shootings over more than a decade have been linked to a widely prescribed type of antidepressant called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors or SSRIs, according to British psychiatrist Dr. David Healy, a founder of RxISK.org, an independent website for researching and reporting on prescription drugs.

Though there has been no definitive confirmation that drugs played a role in the Newtown, Conn., assault, that killed 20 children and six adults, media have cited family members and acquaintances saying suspect Adam Lanza was taking prescription medication to treat a personality disorder, possibly Aspergers,

So will these drugs now be outlawed?, require to have a safety lock?, put away in a locked cabinet?, require a carry permit? Why hasn't every liberal in the United States jumped on the boat today, to eliminate these dangerous apparently killer driving medications? Not even likely this will get a mention anywhere, considering all of the campaign money big pharma funnels into elections.

I knew almost immediately after the first reports briefly mentioned that Lanza was a gamer that video games were a much bigger issue than "guns" in his case.
He was autistic, and may have had a blurred perception of the boundaries of reality and the gaming.
ESPECIALLY if he was on psych meds!!

And somehow I knew we wouldn't hear too much about the video games (though the press in the UK are covering it)

So if we're going to go after something, it should be something that will make a difference, like the violent video games that these kids start playing as soon as they can get their thumbs working right.

Parents who let their kids play these games are the ones ultimately responsible in my mind.

because, this argument does NOT support the NARRATIVE that will take guns out of the citizens. the goal is take the guns, and people cant fight the government at that point.

I'm with you 3:08. Violent video games, movies and music. Then combine any or all of those with mind numbing drugs that make children into uncaring, unfeeling zombies and the results aren't pleasant.

If you cant tell the difference between whats wrong and right at the age of 20 you have no place in society. I listen to what most would consider "devil" music and I have somehow stayed out of trouble my entire life. Stop blaming things when its dumb evil people who make these choices. The same can be said for those who smoke, the cigarettes are what gave me cancer... well you were the ones lighting up for 30 years. Ridiculous thinking. BLAME WHOSE TO BLAME NOT AN OBJECT!!!! Wake up.
