Officers Assaulted By Disorderly Suspect

On August 12, 2012, at approximately 02:30 a.m. an OCPD bike patrol officer observed
a white male lying on a parked vehicle in the parking garage of the Princess Bayside Hotel, at 4701 Coastal Highway.

While approaching the suspect, who was later identified as Michael Patrick McPartland, 28, of Astoria, New York, the officer observed the McPartland get down off the hood of the car with his pants and undergarments around his ankles. As McPartland was pulling up his pants, the officer approached and attempted to make contact with him. The officer attempted to speak to the him about the circumstances of being on top a car with his pants down, however the suspect refused to speak with the officer.

When the officer attempted to identify and detain McPartland, he became very disorderly, uncooperative and aggressively shouting profanities at the officer refusing to comply with any of the officer’s request. Additional officers arrived at the scene to assist the initial officer.

At one point during the encounter, McPartland’s friends attempted to calm him down, however he continued to be uncooperative. McPartland, who showed obvious signs of intoxication and aggressiveness, became more defiant when officers attempted to have him sit down at the ground.

McPartland, who at one point swung at the officers resulting in a struggle, was arrested and charged with: two counts of 2nd Degree Assault of a Police Officer, Resisting Arrest and Disorderly Conduct. McPartland was seen by an Ocean City District Court Commissioner and was released on his own recognizance.

For Heaven Sake! It's Ocean City! Was the Officer new to the area? The man obviously was resting during a good buzz. He was not the first man in ocean city to be a party animal. Also what was he hurting? He was in the security of the parking building, not endangering himself laying out out in the street. If the officer was filling his quota book yea the guys pants were down. give him a ticket, the city could use the money. Most parties you go to some drunk has to drop his pants. It goes with the territory.
Remember drunk/high people spend more money they non drinkers/users. And that's the main point of Ocean City, "MAKING MONEY".

@8:19
1) Drinking does not entititle one to be an assh*le.
2) Wasn't your car was it?
3) Glad I don't go to the parties you seem to enjoy.

The comment at 8:19 was one of the most idiotic ever on this site. Should the owners of the hotel allow the other guests to be subjected to this type of behavior? And the police allow the other visitors to see this stuff too? Decent folks should stay indoors after what, midnight, to allow this stuff to go on? I guess the author is not aware of the recent late-night attempted assaults that have been occurring in mid-town OC, or is he/she more interested in the rights of the oppressed indecent exposure champions? Don't worry, 8:19, the commissioner let him go on his own recognizance, so your people are making progress. Get wasted, drop your drawers, fight with the cops, and get released to the cheers of other complete, utter morons.
