A Letter To The Editor 11-23-11

I wanted to share a recent experience that illustrates the benefit of patronizing the local businesses that have provided you with good service over the years. I recently refinanced my home because the rates were fantastic (10 years at 3.875). I chose to use the small local practice and hometown attorney that has done settlements for me over the years and has always done a good job. The attorney that the mortgage company would have referred me to would have charged $1,700. The hometown attorney was $350 because they had done the title work before, etc. The savings was a great holiday surprise, not to mention that everything was thoroughly explained without feeling rushed.

Thank you,

A reader

It would be nice if the city and county would do the same. Most new projects like the new city water tower are all out of state contractors.

Shop local, be loyal to the family businesses that keep our economy going through thick and thin. The little book store downtown, Parker Place, Seidel Baker & Tilghman attorneys, Eric's Barber Shop, Bella Grace baby boutique,Cakes by David, and VInny's La Roma are some of my favorites.
