WOMEN RECRUITED FOR MARYLAND STATE POLICE

(SYKESVILLE, MD) – Women interested in becoming Maryland state troopers will have the opportunity to get their questions answered by veteran female troopers at a special upcoming recruitment event at the Maryland State Police training facility in Sykesville.

The recruitment event for women will provide interested persons the opportunity to meet and talk with female state troopers who will answer all their questions and, hopefully, dispel apprehensions they may have about a career in law enforcement with the Maryland State Police. Interested women will be able to meet female troopers from a variety of State Police assignments including K-9, aviation, road patrol, training, criminal investigation, and administration. The female troopers who will be at the event have a wide variety of experience and training that includes the highest level of pre-hospital paramedic certification, a law degree, criminal investigation training, and advanced college degrees. Topics discussed at the forum will include the requirements of the State Police Training Academy, going through the residential Academy as a mother, dealing with shift work, and opportunities for specialization and advancement within the Department.

The Maryland State Police is currently hiring qualified applicants. Recruiters want to ensure women who may be interested, but are hesitant to apply due to a lack of information about a career as a state trooper, have their questions answered so the application process can begin.

The forum will be held at the Maryland State Police Training Academy in Sykesville, Md. The Academy is located on the grounds of the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commissions Statewide Public Safety Training Center.

They forgot to include the class telling them that the gun and badge doesn't mean you can stop a fight at the local bar or wrestle a resisting suspect to the ground. Thats when they call a real cop (a man) to come and do the job ONE cop should be able to do. But at least they get to CALL themselves a State Trooper, which is great for their self-esteem and the equal opportunity commission. yeah I said it.

MSP is in a NEED of Troopers! There is a shortage of Troopers in Maryland. Not many people want to join the agency. They rather hire someone that is very inexperienced so they can be trained thier way, the MSP way. Prior LEO, College, Miliary folks are what they call "bad habits" and they are not really wanted within the ranks of the Maryland State Police. That is how I see it and a few others including some of thier own who have been on for a while. I would have a job there if it was giving to me on a golden platter. I rather dig a ditch for min. wage

6:41....it COULD be that they (the State Police) have pissed off, intimidated, harrassed, beaten, searched (as in "driving while black") unnecessarily, ticketed them over petty infractions (just for the money), "saturated" with patrols, and generally employed their normal storm trooper, "we are the boss and the master" attitude so as to totally turn off the prospective pool of candidates who no longer wish to be associated with that armed gang. You'd get more respect by joining the Crips. And you'd get better guns, too.
