Farmer Convicted In Chicken House Burning

SALISBURY -- A Wicomico County farmer was found guilty of unlawful burning this week in District Court after a Maryland Attorney General’s Office investigative team discovered he had set fire to a demolished chicken house last January after he was denied a permit. If your home catches fire and you do not have a permit for burning aren't you guilty of the same crime?

If that's the Randy Swift from Crisfield, no doubt. What a huckster, someone that always has some kind of scam going

I wish he would have fought this because several things would come to light as a result. First the so called "fire department received a call" well that is a lie. That's right the fire chief falsified the report. He called the health department and attorney general 2 days later when he drove by and seen the piles. To this day the fire department has never responded nor been alerted to respond to Mr. Swift's residence. Next the chicken house was abandoned and had been stripped of all hazardous material then demolished into piles as directed by the fire department's Deputy Chief. I will not defend mr swift for his actions, he was wrong and has admitted so, however, there is more than one evil here that needs to be investigated. If the chief falsified this report what else has been falsified. As a tax payer I am upset to hear that over $100,000 are pumped into each fire department with no accountability.

I once has a wicomico county employee tell me that bonfires ON YOUR OWN PROPERTY are illegal unless you get a permit for each and every bonfire you make.

The exception was if you were cleaning up your yard and burning sticks, wood and stuff like that.

Now how many people are going to get a permit to have a bonfire in their backyard?

I can tell you of one person who will not. That's just insane.

I can understand if they were talking about burning salt treated wood. That releases poisonous gases ( arsenic I believe ) when it is burned.

Man I swear, we got more friggen laws than we have people.

This is stupid from the get-go....part of the reason we see dilapidated old chicken houses all over the place is cuz you need a permit to tear them down.....folks leave-em in place and build a new one right next to them.....

Too many stupid government interference rules taking our freedoms.....we need to take our country back from these morons.....election day is coming - do we have any good candidates?
