Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) said Thursday he has prepared his members to compromise on the debt ceiling and that a majority of House Republicans could support a potential deal with Democrats.
In a news conference at the Capitol, Boehner pressed anew for the GOP’s “cut, cap and balance” plan but also pushed back against conservatives in his caucus who are unwilling to move beyond it.
The Speaker was asked to respond to comments from Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), chairman of the conservative Republican Study Committee, who described the “cut, cap and balance” plan as “the compromise” and signed a pledge opposing other alternatives to raising the $14.3 trillion debt ceiling.
“I’m sure that we’ve got some members who [aren't willing to compromise], but I do not believe that’s anywhere close to a majority,” Boehner said.
Asked earlier if he had prepared his membership to compromise, he replied: “I have.”

If Boehner caves in he be voted out out office and replaced with someone who will represent the voters.

www.senate.gov
you'll find all senators there. let them know how you feel about this.....
I think they they made their decision weeks ago! They are going to raise the debt ceiling and play this out to the very last minute. I've seen this before time and time again whenever there are debates on tax increases or fees! Both parties are just two sides on one coin. They don't represent we the people, but the interests of corporations and foreign enterprises (outsourcing)
I'm waiting for the riots to start just like in Greece and other parts of Europe and North Africa.
I don't care what both parties do as long as they raise the debt ceiling and increase the taxes on the Rich, big businesses and corporations. They better not touch social security, medicare, medicaid, active duty or the veterans pay or programs.
Boehner, McConell and Cantor need to get another job and take Grover Norquist with them.
Not raising the debt ceiling WILL devastate the triple AAA credit rating for the Stare of Maryland, Florida, South Carolina. Virginia and I believe Alabama.
Now, what you goy to say to that Boehner, NcConnell.boy toy Eric Cantor and supprters of the Repunklican party?
Good to see some reasonableness finally entering the debate . . .
