BP Solar Will Close Its Frederick Operation In 2012

BP Solar will close its Frederick operation early next year, and many of its 80 employees may lose their jobs.

The company has moved its headquarters to Houston, where BP America has its main offices.

The BP Solar building, a familiar landmark from I-70 with its solar-panel-covered roof, will be put on the market.

Company spokesman Pete Resler said Tuesday that BP Solar will close out operations at the Ballenger Creek Pike building by the end of the first quarter of 2012.

BP Solar installed the panels to take advantage of government grants and tax breaks. Now that the company has exhausted all the freebies, they have fiqured out what everybody knows.

You must be part of the quality Maryland educational system that was referred to earlier. I bet you even have one of those moronic "drill Baby, Drill" Stickers on your truck. The point is solar can be viable but not as long as our countries run by big oil.

If solar were viable, then it would grow on it's own and not need subsides paid for by taxing viable energy.
Oh, and yes, we should drill baby drill. This country is sitting on top of more energy reserves than Saudi Arabia, but the dumbocrats with there communist enviromentalists help have marked it all off limits......stupid, just plain stupid!
Dumbocrats will never learn, that you can't change physics by passing laws.

You mean the same subsidies that big oil and Ethanol are ALREADY receiving? We would have much better alternative energy options if companies like BP and Shell didn't buyout or hush up any research leading to better non-fossil fuel based energy sources. in just 30 years we have seen a large increase in the efficiency of solar cells(Source: http://i.imgur.com/Wc1ss.jpg) It would be interesting to see where we would be today if our capital hill kicked big oil out of the bed and let alternative energy have a chance.

Its not about democrat vs republicans(AKA Dumb and Dumber), its about conserving the resources we have now for future generations (something that your kids may enjoy in the off-chance that you have unfortunately reproduced) Once we are out of fossil fuels they are gone, theirs no quickly creating more. The whole drill baby drill mentality feeds off of ignorance and fear; spend some more time doing some research yourself and lay off the fox news.
