The Fountains Has Been Sold

Starting next week the new owner will close the restaurant for lunch but will remain open for dinner. They are planning on remodeling the dining area and after speaking to the new owner it sounds like they'll have one heck of a facility once they're done.

The claim, "We'll have the finest food in the area" and quite frankly I wouldn't doubt it. They have the capability and kitchen to do so, we'll just have to see what happens when the time comes.

The restaurant/banquet hall was sold on May 17th to the Triantis Family.

I believe the Peek family bought the property and built this facility on or about 2005 - during the height of the building boom.

They probably had to let it go as I'm sure it is a 'ball and chain' around their neck.

I wonder which lender took the haircut.

I just have one comment. Well maybe 2! I wish with all my heart that someone would have "really good seafood" at a fairly reasonable price in this town. Why do we have to go to OC or Chincoteague for really good steamed shrimp, broiled flounder and other great seafood? Why!!! Maybe they could do a "seafood nite during summer. I hate the "all you can eat" crab places as it is like sitting in a barn. OH well, said my piece! Maybe I am missing some place. AND don't mention the place on Nanticoke Rd. (Boonies) worst service we have ever had anyplace. Didn't even get our drinks for 15 minutes at least.

To 6:21 Posting

I swear I learn more from this site than any other source on the entire peninsula.

I heard another gentlemen telling me this story over coffee this week regarding the Peek's demise with the property. Now that I have read it on Salisbury News it corraborates what was explained to me over coffee.

Well it is now known that the new owner is not honoring many outstaning debts to local business's after the purchase of the business. They seem to be reeping the benefits and talking down about the Davis's a local family. I am sorry not a good way to come into a local community.

Chris Davis is the original owner and had Chef Jim Hughes lined up as partner until Chris cut Hughes off...

12:10, When is it someone's responsibility to honor debts they did not create?
If you were to purchase a home in which the previous owner didn't pay an electric bill, is it your responsiblity to pay that bill?

This is not a home but a business and when you buy an existing operating business you buy the assets and liabilities. I feel sorry for the local business that will be hurt by this. The new ownes should do the right thing and honor any liabilities when they puchased an existing business.

Not always....it depends on what is defined in the purchase contract

When a MD business is bought or sold the acquistion is either an Entity Purchase or an Asset Purchase.
Unless and until we know the details of the purchase agreement we should not assume that it is the new owner who is responsible for the debts.

Hiring Jim Hughes would have started Chris off on a bad beginning. Jim Hughes was fired from UMES because he was stealing. Jim Hughes is fine in his own little restaurant 213.
