Welcome To Salisbury, Maryland

If you are a personal property owner, you get fined. If you are a municipal property owner, you are immune. Do as I say, not as I do.

I just wonder how long it would take Code & Compliance to force you to cut back your shrubs, (photo just above) into the roadway? Never mind a roadway like Rt. 50.

Perhaps their waiting for someone to hit those shrubs so they can fine you for destruction of city property?

We should raise taxes so that we have the funds to make sure this municipal land is always taken care of. Good idea Joe!!!

Most of the illegals have gone home because of the economy so we have no one to cut the grass. That work is to good for us Americans.

Isn't that SHA right-of-way along 50? I'm just curious as to whether its the City's or State's responsibility. Either way, it needs to be addressed!

The pictures depict Maryland State Highway right of way. They are out cutting today about a half mile from these pics so I'm sure it will get done.

Great job for welfare recipients to do to get their monthly checks!

We have 2 prisons in this area. Get those lazy people off their behind and out there cutting grass if they want to eat.

Nah, they play ball all day like Obama does. That ain't lazy, that is your tax dollars hard at work.

Prison is an extension of the Welfare System.

SHA right of way. Funny, because they are the ones with money since they stole it all from the cities and the counties.

I agree that this is just not right, but you can go to any municipality or even out in the county in Wicomico or Sussex and see the same things you're seeing here.
I feel a lot of the problem is the lack of pride. There seems to be a lacking of pride in all communities anymore.

Oh I agree with 1:09 - for all welfare recipients - if you want to continue getting your welfare - go work for it and if you don't, it should be cut off.

This is a real disgrace for Salisbury and Wicomico County with The Poodle Club in town. These people come from all over the country and spend lots of money while they are here. Salisbury should be ashamed other cities do not look like this.
Put the prisoners to work instead of letting them play basketball and watch TV, after all they get "3 hots and a cot" for doing nothing!!! Let Mike Lewis have his way with them, he will get the job done, and done right!!!!

Does anyone know Why The Prisoners don't do these jobs???? Seems foolish to me to pay to get this done anyway----but then again----when it's not their own money our lovely Representatives are dealing with----They just Don't Care how they spend it----Do They?

Oh but let me have the slightest bit of obnoxious growth on my property?

Times are tight in my pocket also.

The work it takes to keep the area tidy and kept looking doesn't magically happen people. With furlough days and frozen positions within the state and city, citizens should expect services to decline. Yes, there are a few bad apples but most of the local and state government rank and file are very dedicated and hard working.

Cmon and bash away!

I agree with 8:41. You can't continually cut the budget for services and expect service to not be effected.

Let code enforcement officials spend one day a week leading by example. Have them pull weeds from the sidewalks and cut grass.
