I Told You It Was Serious

As you can see, the original hole swallowed up the old steel plate put out there originally to cover the large pot hole. You can expect some very serious delays in that area and you may want to tell people to find an alternative route for this evening. There is only one lane going through that area. The middle lane, (with the hole) and right lane are closed.

wow! And to think there was a psychic right across the street!

Can you believe that the only indicatation of the damage was a sign on the side of the road that said steel plates ahead?
There were no orange cones or anything to block off the lane when I went by at 1:15 this afternoon!
Someone could have seriously been injured.

This thing has been going on for weeks-- instead of fixing it, they just put up a sign that said 'BUMP' and left it to us to deal with on our own.
Couldn't be bothered during the holidays, I guess.
Why does Donnie Drewer still have a job?

massive and frequent earthquakes, tsunamis, flooding, sink holes everywhere, dead flocks of brids and fish turning up...

thats an awful lot of angry goin' round!

I have contacted Chesapeake Paving several times to come look at my residential driveway they installed to see why it is cracking and sinking. They have yet to come out and evaluate the situation. Sign of the times. Crappy work, crappy follow through, and a "screw you" attitude. It is pervasive in this town.

That's ashamed to hear that about Chesapeake Paving. We've used them numerous times and have never, ever had a problem with them. Mr. Jim is about the most customer-service oriented individual man I have ever met. I wouldn't give up on them.

Jonathan Taylor must have slipped and fallen down there... That or a baby elephant.

you should have used concrete i know you used black top because its cheaper but you get what you pay for.

I wish I had the experience you have had with Chesapeake Paving. I have been trying for a year to have someone call me back. I leave messages. No one calls back. I finally talked to someone (a man who said he was the owner) who happened to answer the phone one day, and he stated when he is "in the area" he will stop by and give it a look. I haven't heard or seen anyone. I don't know if this was Mr. Brown or not, but he was not very customer oriented in our conversation. My gut tells me that someone may have seen it and realize they did not do this driveway correctly and don't want to mess with it and if they ignore me long enough I will go away. From my experience, I would definitely NOT recommend them.

Drop a 69 super-beetle in it and be done with it.

State workers , need I say more , just look and remind yourself of Comegy. Worthless as tits on a male hog.

Teats on a boar hog do serve a purpose. I can not say much about the men at the sink hole.. I was able to observe them ...six of them..stand around waiting for someone to tell them what to do..City done an excellent job of directing and providing safety.

Most sinkholes are serious, moron. Too bad you and your idiot family didn't drive into it and die. That would be the best thing for this area.

I was down on that end of town for the first time in a few months last weeek and I was amazed in that I felt the whole lane seemed to be sinking or something. I work on the North end of Salisbury so I am used to those "craters" in front of the car dealerships but I was really surprised by the lanes on South 13. When I got back to work I asked someone if that was from all the construction at the college or just a poor paving project. I thought it was terrible. And yeah, the "bump" sign was there then also.

3:46 PM, Couldn't be bothered for the holidays? I guess you would be complaining if they didn't remove snow like they did during the holidays. It is called priorities. If you feel you can safely cover the hole with a steel plate while you take care of more pressing issues, like a blizzard, then you come back and fix this problem. Unfortunately, this problem grew. Most of you scream for no taxes, so what do you want? Why dont you just shut your whining mouths. You can't have it both ways. You either get service, or you get to wait. You decide. What a bunch of cry baby whiners.

Wow Jeff & Jim Brown have done many projects for us and Jeff has always been right there to answer any questions.

What do you expect when the son of the father/son company is a deadbeat criminal.

5:32and 6:34...worthless state workers?? you didnt bother to say that they responded to this problem within minutes of receiving a call. I'd to see how well you respond to all the negativity and criticism from people who know little or nothing about what you do. Yes, people were standing around for a few minutes..but what exactly do you do with a 5 or 600 lb steel plate while you're waiting for heavy equipmment and a chain to arrive?

Anonymous said...

In the last picture...what is that man doing standing on the steel plate?

Anonymous said...

Gary Comegys...really?? What an awful thing to say. I can understand that not all people agree on a lot of issues but to wish someone and their family dead is just heartbreaking. I will say a lil prayer for you:-) I pray that God watch over you and your family and to guide you out of such hatred and surround you with his love:-)

Mr. Brown,
Thank You very much for leaving your number. I look forward to speaking with you and I will be in touch very soon.

For all of the ones that are upset about lazy State workers must fall within that group being addressed. As a retired state worker, I can say there is a lot of waste. There are Supervisory and Administration positions that are "Good Ole Boy" / political postions that are not needed and can be eliminated without jeopordizing any type of service / work. There are about 25% of the worker force that can be eliminated because they are lazy and worthless. The problem with eliminating these positions is the ones that are labeled Supervisor / Administrator are incompetent and will have to work and earn their pay and benefits which then will prove their incompetency. This problem starts at the top with the Governor's office and is throughout every State Agency. The State does everything they can to dismiss an honest hard worker.
