LeeLee Jones

Joe,

Would you please print this update on the condition of LeeLee Jones, the young girl injured in the accident outside of Delmar yesterday? LeeLee and her family are wonderful people that we have been blessed to call friends for quite a few years now. LeeLee just graduated Friday with Delmar's Class of 2010.

The Delmar community-as you know-is a tight knit bunch. LeeLee and her family are well within our folds of prayer and love today.

We ask that your readers continue to pray for the Jones/Melvin family as this is sure to be a battle....but one that we ALL know LeeLee will win!!!

Prayers move mountains....let's push a lotta dirt for LeeLee and her family!!!!

The following letter is from LeeLee's mother's supervisor-the principal at WiHi....

Wonderful Ones -

Last evening, Chris Melvin's children (Jesse and Lee Lee) were involved in a car accident. Jesse was taken to PRMC and due to the severity of her injuries, Lee Lee was taken to Christiana Hospital.

I have just hung up speaking with Chris and this is what she shared: First of all, THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE PRAYERS - THEY ARE WORKING! Lee Lee is still in critical condition and in ICU. Her left arm was almost severed off. She underwent 10 hours of surgery last evening to save the arm. A vein was placed in that arm and hopefully will take so the arm will be saved. By God's grace two of the top surgeons for this type of surgery were at this hospital when Lee Lee was brought in. Lee Lee lost four pints of blood and has blood on her brain. Her nose was crushed in three places and she has a gash on her left forehead.

When Chris was able to see her, Lee Lee was able to move her legs and feet!!! Lee Lee will be in an induced coma until Thursday afternoon. Then doctors will begin to bring her out to assess the brain damage. Doctors are limiting the amount of time Chris can visit with Lee Lee while she's in her present condition.

Please continue to pray for the Melvin family. She is staying in a hotel up in Christina. Let's do a casual day for her this Friday to help with those expenses. You can just bring it to Mrs. Underwood.

As Chris shares information with me, I'll be sure to pass it along.

12:51 Delmar school system isn't in Wicomico County, it's independent. In Delaware school systems are not defined by County, but by regional areas. So if you are going to make that call then call Delmar Middle and High School.

That being said, we're all praying for a speedy recovery.

Ron, They are discussing Wicomico County because that is the county in which the mother actually works for the Board of Education if someone would want to contribute. That is where her supervisor is located.

5:03-That is correct. Wicomico High is doing a casual day for the mother to help offset some of her hotel expenses. 4:52-Maybe Delmar Middle/High is doing something for the family. You can give them a call

Tears streaming down my face as I read this because I have an 18 yr old daughter and this has always been one of my greatest fears. My heart aches for this girl and her family. Praying hard for her. Hope things work out. This was supposed to be a happy time for her and her friends just graduating high school. This school seems to have had a lot of tragedies over the yrs w/students. So sad. Hoping and praying hard.
