Comegys Pulls A Fast One

Gary is receiving special treatment from the Cottages at RiverHouse on Pemberton. The same group Gary just help get fee waivers and money.

I was told that Gary pushed Resolutions 1557 & 1558 - to support a loan
from the State and a waiver of capacity fees for Cottages at Riverhouse. The Resolutions were approved unanimously, granting them $78,764.40, plus a Loan not to exceed $1.5 million provide by Dept of Housing and Community Development.

Other candidates have approached the Cottages about coming out there and they put them off. They said they wanted to wait and invite all the candidates, but if that were true, why do we now discover Comegys is going out there for dinner with no word to the other candidates?

Aother person for another campaign also called out there several weeks ago to inquire and the Manager told her as well, that he "had just gotten a call from another candidate and the owner was "going to call the Mayor and find out what to do". Well, we know what she told him..

Well, it seems that Gary has put his "eggs" in this basket and thjey won't let the other candidates come near the place??
Sounds pretty fishy to me, in fact I think it rather stinks of fishyness!

Question:

What to do about it with the voters that won't seem like whining?

Another question:

Anything legal can be done about it? That's MY tax dollars!

Is this the same fee that the city would not waive for the Knorrs which drove them to delaware with their brewery?

No, the money they received was based around affordable housing for seniors. That's where they got their break.

I heard the city wasn't supposed to waive fees for anybody.

Do you know how to find out, Joe?

Joe:

They got a huge break from the city -- without the waiver they would have paid the "capacity fee" of $78,764.40, and would have been unable (most likely) to do the project here -- but no doubt would have done it elsewhere that they got similar treatment.

Unfortunately this is how the Feds parcel out money -- at the expense of localities. Look for it to become much worse under the OBAMA regime!

PS -- the effect of the waiver is to increase the fees for sewer and water for existing residents to that extent, and if there are a lot more of these waivers it's Katie bar the door.

PPS - It's an Obamanation now -- too bad for the working middle class (soon to be the nation's newest "minority").

Is the Landlord allowed to cater to one politician, um make that two, Shanie's going for a lunch there with Comegys later, when the Landlord is receiving federal funds?

Joe, you're going to have to lift the cursing restriction to discuss this.

Did I see that Campbell seconded one of the motions and that the motions passed unanimously? Must not have been too bad then.

Ireton Supporters:

Be sure to cast your 2nd vote for Bob Caldwell.

LET'S BUMP BUBBA!

Anonymous said...

8:00 PM...

Are Caldwell voters all supporting Ireton as #2?

Anonymous said...

9:30-

That's impossible to say, of course, but my guess is that many will do so.

On the Bill Reddish show this week Mr. Caldwell reminded the voters that they have two votes, so he is not discouraging his supporters.

Joe, stay on this one. Something really stinks.

This is from Barrie's playbook--i want to know who the Cottage's CEO is -- anyone know? I want to give him a piece of my mind for not allowing his residents to hear from ALL the candidates.

Is Bubba paying the bill for the food or is the Cottages footing the bill?

Mallard Landing shows class--they invite all the Mayoral candidates to event.

Very poor judgment on the part of the Cottage management.

Vote for Jim Ireton

Can you just imagine Bubba smoozing with these older folks--I bet he can lay it on thick (gag me). Shame on Cottages management for being so narrow as not to allow all candidates an opportunity to participate. This is a bad message to send the residents there -- management taking strides to let them hear only one candidate and management promoting that candidate this way. It shows what Cottages thinks of their residents.

Whoever made this bad decision should be fired. And how patronizing of their residents to do this.

Fireboat Bubba and der Barie are at it again.

Oh, I'd better watch it. Next thing I know, der Barrie will have storm troopers kicking my door in at midnight to put a block on my computer so I can't read this blog.

As 10:02 said, something stinks. But all will out in time, and Bubba and der Barrie will end up in the trash bin of local history - where they deserve to be.

The Cottages is government subsidized housing, I believe. This latest ARRA stimulus package spends a lot of money on low income housing to prepare us for our near future.
