Circuit City Isn't Going To Make It

It's highly doubtful Circuit City will make it very far into 2009 without filing Chapter 11. Creditors are cutting them off and competitors like Best Buy, WalMart and CostCo are saying they're going to cut their prices to the bone to get whatever store traffic is available in a deep recession. They are closing 155 stores right away.

Be very careful what you buy there from here on out Folks.

Why be careful? Just buy the extended warranty. One time I bought a surround sound system from BBuy and got it cheap... bought the 3 yr warranty (which in total was cheaper than the "new" price alone). Never had any issue with the system, but if I did I would have been able to get a free replacement.

Will the Salisbury store remain open?

the govt will bail them out I am sure.

Have we determined whether the SBY store is one slated to close?

be careful because if they are out of business, there will not be anyone to honor your extended warranty.

2:10PM - I seriously doubt that CCity will 100% fold... heck KMart did the same thing and they are still around.

Salisbury was not on the list

Circuit City deserves it, with that scam of having a different circular on their "in-store" website vs mailings.

And I'd stay away from BestBuy. Their rebate policy is fraudulent and they've been sued over it several times.

4:35 you are an idiot.

different than there circular? everything that is in the add is that same price online. other things may be cheaper online.

but now there is a one price promise where instore and online prices are the same guaranteed.

you people amaze me. the consumer just needs to grow up and learn that they arent the only person who walks into the store.

the salisbury store will remain open.

The Salisbury store may remain open for a short time, maybe. You have just begun to see the chain reaction of failure in retail. Think this is just part of the "cycle" of economic trends? Think again. Tell me which industry is going to lead us out of this reccession. This will last a good 8 to 10 years.

anon 7:22, were you born a dumbass or did you have to work all 5 grades that you attended school to become one?

If you bother to read the business news, you would've seen that Circuit City has had class-action suits of fraud filed against them. They send out mail circulars which advertise one price, but the consumer comes into the store, and it's another. When the employee pulls up what looks to be a store circular from the website, it's not really the circuitcity.com website. It is a false circular found on a Circuit City "intra-net"- please notice that internet and intranet are not one and the same.

I'll accept your apology for being such an uninformed idiot now.
