Opportunity Shop Update

ALL CLOTHING IS NOW ON SALE FOR .25 CENTS EACH! They are open Thursday and Saturday from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. They are closing out their summer merchandise and it's no wonder there's a line to get in there. Shop early Folks because these things are going to fly out of there.

times are hard here for alot of people. go to the goodwill store on rt. 13 on sat. it's usually as busy as most any other store in town.
but, i donated to the salvation army awhile back, and when i took the things in, the attendant told me to put them aside, they wanted first choice.

My husbands father past away and his mother asked him to take his fathers clothes over to Salvation Army. These things where all on hangers, drycleaned and the person there told him to take everything off the hangers and through the clothes in a large container with the others. What a shame and upsetting to my husband.

The Opportunity Shop is an outreach of Asbury United Methodist Church - the big brick church just south of Salisbury University next to TCBY. The ladies of Asbury have been running the shop for 30 + years with all gently used donated items mostly from church members. It has clothing and shoes of all sizes, linens, jewelry and other small trinkets.

The store is located on west end of the downtown plaza - next to Joe's building and the entrance to Market Street Antiques. There is a small municipal parking lot next to Parker Place just across the street from the OP Shop.

Our local church is also trying to organize an opportunity shop, nothing wrong with the concept, for a city this size there seems to be a great demand for them.

Doesn't that tell everyone something? It should, when ppl are standing in soup lines you will know we have really hit rock bottom.
