Close Call!

Having an Office on the Downtown Plaza allows me to see an incredible amount of handicap people. You'd be amazed at just how many come to the Plaza each and every day. I personally would never have believed it if someone told me there's 20 people a day in these kind of carts.

That being said, I saw one earlier where the guy had reflectors on it and an orange flag to the rear of it. It stood out and he seemed very respectful.

Then comes this guy. Notice how he's part way into the road. That's Mill Street and everyone knows that the lane he's already in is the right hand lane with not a lot of room to move one way or the other. This guy didn't care. You can also tell from the photo that people were in fact going through the light while it was green and this guy was pulling out on a red light.

With the increase of these carts showing up everywhere, no flag on the back and pulling out in front of the vehicle legally waiting for the light to change, someone is going to get hurt. The laws need to change because quite frankly, I don't want to be one of the people challenged, God Forbid someone pulls out in front of me and I hit them by accident. It could be forever life changing and I don't want that kind of accident, nor would you.

We don't need more laws, we've got more than most judges, lawyers and leos are aware. What we need is to enforce what we have or suffer the consequences.

I believe if you hit this guy, even though he is going against the light, YOU would be at fault, unless the "pedestrian has the right of way" rule has changed, I'm not sure.

As you can see this guy's on oxygen and probably has other ailments, He most likely does't give a rats ass about himself or others, just pissed off with the world.

As an owner of one of these..it really isn't so much visibility but the fact that anyone who rides on one of these needs to use common sense and not put anyones lives in danger by crossing unsafely across main roads.

The old people are the only ones that know the plaza even exist. You have 12,000 college students and not one of them visit the plaza.
