Maryland’s casinos brought in more than $542 million to fund the education trust fund in the fiscal year 2019. That’s an all-time high.
The proceeds for the education trust fund, known as the lockbox, increased $46 million compared to the last fiscal year, according to the state’s lottery and gaming agency’s annual report released Monday. The money is meant to go toward the educational reform efforts recommended by the Kirwan Commission.
Gordon Medenica, the director of the state’s lottery and gaming agency, said the revenue stream from casinos is maturing.

Shows ocean downs and Harrington are tight ass casinos.
I expect to see A's and B's out of Baltimore schools without giving them the answers. See if that answers all the "Throw the money at it" idiots.
It's strange that all this money that is supposedly earmarked for education never really gets spent for that.
i call BS!!! all that money goes where? is the lottery commision still covering the tolls on big weekends?
Baltimore will throw it in a black hole.
Northwest Woodsman: We all know that the majority of this money will end up in the pockets of corrupt Maryland politicians and little, if any will go to benefit education.
It'll go toward state-of-the-art air conditioning and heating systems, plus other hard upgrades and repairs that have been deferred over decades. Teachers' unions will want their cut, too, a big one. And then there's the "laptops for all" stupidity.
Don't hold your breath for grades to improve.
At least for Ocean Downs it's because the only people showing up are piner whiners and the only thing getting played is penny slots.
$ May make it to “education”, but it won’t make it to the classroom where it belongs.
pot is next.
Has nothing to do with Harrington, that in Delaware.
So it’s finally going to the children?I think not.
so where is all the money and why are the public schools turning out a bad 'product'? no excuse for the failing public schools continuing to use the poor common core from agenda 21/23...stupid is as stupid does. our students are still being indoctrinated for the State and are about a useless a tits on a boar hog...
That's where all the lottery money was supposed to go. Yeah, right!
MD's additional revenue via Virginia is about to dry up. OTBs with slot like machines are already in SE VA, Richmond, SW VA and soon to be in northern VA. Casino's are next in SE VA and Richmond areas too. New blood in the VA legislature acknowledges the years of revenue leaving VA to MD, DE, PA and WVA and will shortly have their casinos.
They also know after 5 years the gambling revenue generator levels off too.
They give themselves ALL a fair share. With the ENTIRE STATE education system in disarray. H.S. kids can't read or right. Hell U of Maryland they can't even speak correctly. So where is ALL the cash going?? I know. Gay, transgender and HATE AMERICA social agenda. Even the NFL just lost millions of viewers with this BS "JUSTICE INITIATIVE" with that convict rapper.
I read an article not that long ago that explained the reason you don't seem to see all the casino money go to education. The short answer is, it does go to education.
The more complicated answer is that while it does all go to education, the education budget isn't moved upwards, nor is your taxpayer burden reduced. So, if Maryland has an education budget of 700 million dollars they get 542 million from the casinos. Then they use taxpayer money to fund the rest. You the taxpayer don't see a 542 million break in your taxes, either. They're still going to collect that 542 million from us, they'll just use it somewhere other than education.
Ah, googled and found it...https://www.baltimoresun.com/maryland/bs-md-casino-education-20170121-story.html
