Lots of times.
Food Lion on Tilghman Rd was using brown paper bags one day last week. The next day I asked them if they did that so kids could use the bags to cover their school books? They looked at me like I had two heads! LOL

I DO, AND WISH WE VOULD GO BACK TO PAPER BAGS. THEY HAD LOTS OF GOOD USES. DON'T WORRY TREE HUGGERS. WE RE-FOREST AFTER CUTTING DOWN TREES.

Every first week of school. Durable too.

Best book covers ever! Plus it was an opportunity for parents to do something school related with their children - something that is sorely needed today.

And then so much fun .. writing and Doing colored artists work on the covers !!! Let the imagination run wild ! Oh yeah !!

Mom had a part time upholstery business, so our books were covered with chair fabric, Naugahyde and leather scraps. We actually used them for several years on different books.

Oh, but of course I remember.

Most the time the paper and tape covers were the only thing holding the ragged out dated irrelevant books together around here. The maps in them included little post WWII. Thank goodness we had Encyclopedia Britannica, National Geographic, Science and Modern Mechanics and the Harvard Classics at home. I would visit friends homes and they would have three publications the Sears and Wards catalogs with the Bible on top maybe Readers Digest or the Farmers Almanac. Cover your Ipads with paper bags piglets they may get stolen.

Yep. And various businesses would also sponsor nicer covers, with small ads on them.

i loved that! it gave me a personal canvas to draw on in those boring classes and it was cheap, i could change my book cover every month and have a new clean canvas to draw on!!

They really held up better than anything else, and your own canvas for art work.

Yep, brings back memories of my brothers and sister sitting at the dining room table covering our books with paper bags. Good times long gone. I miss my brother Buddy so much.

Northwest Woodsman: Didn’t think books were part of the Marxist democrat public indoctrination facility’s program.
