AUGUSTA (WGME) -- Governor Janet Mills is expected to sign a bill to ban conversion therapy for minors in Maine.
The bill was passed with bipartisan support.
The bill would ban licensed professionals from using so-called "conversion therapy" on minors.
Conversion therapy is the practice of trying to change a person’s sexual orientation or gender identity.
According to the governor's office, research shows conversion therapy can lead to serious mental health problems in LGBTQ youth, including depression, suicidal behavior, decreased self-esteem, and substance abuse.

Forget conversion therapy lets just go back to good old fashioned ocular lobotomies. Tiny probe behind the eye scramble the frontal cortex like an egg and they will stop seeing Pookas dressed like Ru Paul. Sterilization and castration helps too.

11:58 You should educate yourself further on what the experts consider to be the proper treatment for youth. Conversion therapy does this group more harm down the road than it does good for them. If after they become adults and want it go for it. But it should never be approved for children.

There are a plethora of success stories using conversion therapy why deny someone a treatment that they seek ???
Because they are minors, people! It's not a decision a child should be allowed to make!!
