President Trump doubled down on his consideration of shutting down the federal government to force Congress to address the country’s weak immigration and border laws.
“I don’t care what the political ramifications are, our immigration laws and border security have been a complete and total disaster for decades, and there is no way that the Democrats will allow it to be fixed without a Government Shutdown,” Trump tweeted Tuesday.

Shut it down! Never missed any part of it during previous shutdowns! And at a savings of a 1/4 million a minute, the longer the better!!
Whoooooooo! A government shutdown! Like we've never seen such a thing before. There have been 18 shutdowns since the 1970s. It's about half and half between Dems and Republicans over the years, with Barack Obama (1) and Bill Clinton (2) the two most recent presidents at the time. They lasted from a couple of days to a few weeks, during which varied numbers of federal employees were furloughed.
Shutdowns either end with compromise or capitulation of one of the two opposing sides.
It shouldn't be called a shut down. Once the gov't starts back up, everyone gets back pay like nothing ever happened. They should call it unexpected gov't vacation!!
