The Maryland Department of Natural Resources is considering changes to the recreational and charter boat summer and fall striped bass fishery.
The changes will require the use of circle hooks while chumming or live-lining, regardless of the target species. There is a possibility that the regulation may limit the size of the “J” hook when you are using bait (crabs, fish, worms or processed bait).

When and where to I take all my "J" hooks for total reimbursement?
Now the DNR/NRP will be harassing every fisherman to see what hooks you have and oh by the way let's do a safety check and blow into this breathalyzer while we have you detained. BS.

Meanwhile commercial fisherman with bank traps catch everything that swims. One guy I know catches up to 6000 pounds a day. One of his workers have boxes of 4" to 10" baby rock, trout that he uses for chum. We get to keep 1 or 2 fish a day depending on the time of year.
