Pizza Hut replaces Papa John's as NFL Sponsor

Pizza Hut will take over the NFL pizza-sponsorship deal abandoned by Papa John’s International Inc., betting that it can revive its allure by teaming up with the increasingly controversial league.

Pizza Hut’s multiyear deal gives it collective use of all 32 teams logos, and the NFL will work closely with the chain on local team partnerships, according to a joint statement Wednesday.

Papa John’s -- unhappy over declining ratings and the handling of players’ national anthem protests -- said Tuesday it was ending its deal across the whole league that had been in place since 2010, and would focus on marketing with 22 specific teams. The opening provides an opportunity for Pizza Hut’s parent, Yum! Brands Inc., which has sought to burnish the pizza chain’s image after years of sluggish sales.

Big deal! Papa Johns sends me an email at least twice per week that I can order online and get my pizza for HALF PRICE. As long as I've know about Pizza Hut, I have NEVER seen any discounts from them. The NFL can keep that cheapskate company. I'll stick with Papa Johns!

Excellent! I'm back at Papa Johns again! We missed you, but thanks for listening to your pockets!

Yuck

Big mistake; the NFL is toxic and attendance and viewership will be off at least 20% next year.

So, 7:36, how is Papa Johns dropping the NFL a "Big Mistake" if the NFL is so toxic? I guess I don't understand your logic.

For me, supporting a "toxic" organization as a national business would be bad business sense. Why do you think it's a good idea?

Pizza Hut has been off my visit or buy from list for years strictly on the service and appearance of the stores.

I actually like Papa John's but kicked them to the curb when they waffled about the NFL kneelers. Won't be in a rush to go back, but their dumping NFL was a good step.

NFL will be getting more cold showers as ratings and sales info get to decision makers who have advertised or promoted the league.

Fire Goodell.

I don't care. I don't like pizza, or the nfl all that much.

The quality of the NFL goes down, and with it, the quality of the advertisers.

Who cares about the NFL.

And I'm sure John's Papa is happy to distance himself from the NFL

And, the NFL is now a comedian! Pizza Hut is a joke. Maybe after a few days without food and no hope for something else.

I only order from local businesses and not corporate owned business that use artificial and canned ingredients.

I don't mind paying extra for a good pizza.
When I order out, I order from Cafe Italiano, Delmar Pizza, Lombardi's, or Specific Gravity Pizza.

Better to order from a local business than a Corporation. They appreciate your business, and you are helping the local economy and community.

I never liked Papa Johns pizza. I used to work at Pizza Hut many years ago. The sauce is canned and the dough is prepackaged. Only the toppings are sort of fresh but not local.

9:16 PM: No one should have to explain what 7:36 PM is saying to you since it's self-explanatory; however, since you seem to be too dense to comprehend, allow me. The commenter is not stating that Papa Johns is making a "big mistake", but instead that Pizza Hut is making a "big mistake".
