College student barred from class for rejecting ‘the reality of white male privilege’

A student at Indiana University of Pennsylvania was barred from class, forced to apologize and given an academic referral for disputing “the reality of white male privilege.”

Lake Ingle said students in his Feb. 28 religious studies class watched a TED Talk by transgender woman Paula Stone Williams. He said only women were allowed to participate in a subsequent discussion.

“The floor was opened, and not a single woman spoke,” Mr. Ingletold Campus Reform. “Thirty seconds or so passed and still no woman had spoken. So, I decided it was permissible for me to enter conversation, especially because I felt the conversation itself was completely inappropriate in its structure.”

Mr. Ingle said he disputed several claims in the video, arguing there are only two biological sexes and that the gender wage gap is a myth.

The next day, Mr. Ingle met with his instructor, religious studies professor Alison Downie, who presented him with an academic referral for “objecting to the professor’s class discussion structure,” refusing to “stop talking out of turn,” making “angry outbursts in response to being required to listen to a trans speaker discuss the reality of white male privilege and sexism,” and referring disrespectfully to “the validity of trans identity and experience.”

She ordered Mr. Ingle to “write an apology to the professor which specifically addresses each of the disrespectful behaviors described above, demonstrating ability to take responsibility for inappropriate behavior which has significantly damaged the learning environment of this course.”

How do you get barred from a class that you are paying to attend?

So much for creative discourse. The thought police are here folks.

Talk to my attorney. We'll be asking for a settlement that will spin your head.

WHO doesn't believe the "Thought Police" are real?

"....talking out of turn...."???? seriously??
A COLLEGE PROFESSOR (!) thinks she is teaching 7 year old kids and needs to write them up for not raising their hand first???
Propaganda NEEDS to be called out for the BS it is.....TRUTH should be the order of the day in every college, not the latest and whackest social ideas, sexual confusion, and strict adherence to a political philosophy that is certainly questionable....
And FORCING those ideas and philosophies on people as IF they were the God's honest undeniable 100% facts of the matter is absolutely straight outta Mao's China.
Keep cheering (but learn the difference between reality and what you WISH was true).

IUP had its roots as a state teachers college like SU but has broadened its offerings.

He should be in touch with FIRE (a free speech advocate for colleges) and possibly an attorney. Could wrap up a tuition free education for both Bachelors and Masters.

The instructor should get the warning letter, if not a pink slip to match her hat.

My son is a senior and applying for scholarships...we are poor middle class so I'm on him to apply for every scholarship he can get. Which he is very smart one of the top kids in his class and school...he always says to me ' I'm a straight, white, middle class male...what chance do you think I really have?' That hurts my heart I put my blood, sweat, and tears to make him a good human being...respectful, eager to better himself, smart, open to everyone...I just hate hearing him say...I'm normal no one cares or thinks I'm good enough...those aren't his exact words but that's how it translates.

10:55 We went through the same thing with our son a few years ago. He was by far the smartest kid in his class(perfect test scores) but lacked the sob story that many of the universities were seeking. He was wait-listed at an Ivy league when one of his minority classmates was accepted. His classmate washed out in the first year. Our son ended up with a degree from a great university and is now extremely successful. The cream always rises to the top. Good luck.
