Every company that did this today, just highlighted themselves. All of these establishments who employ illegal workers and were forced to close for their protest; what idiots. I would fire all of these undocumented workers since they identified themselves. I also now know what establishments I will not patronize due to their illegal employment practices. I will boycott such places.

Used to be good up until a few years ago. I don't eat there anymore, the food quality went way down and is usually pretty gross.

I don't know about you, but if I called my boss and told them I was protesting and refused to come to work I would be fired by the end of the phone call.

This is just obscene. I hadn't heard about "a Day without Immigrants" until I saw this. So, I did a little searching and a little reading.
A day without immigrants is/was promoted as a way to show the impact of immigrants on this country. Nowhere, is illegal mentioned. So, if this twisted nonsense was about the error of blocking and/or vetting illegal immigrants from suspect countries, then that should be said. But, that never came up... Because of course, that would reveal the hypocrisy of how many times it has been done already, with not a peep from the agitators in chaarge.
Instead, apparently hundreds, possibly thousands of small businesses across this once great land have been tricked by sleight of hand into showing support for all fellow immigrants. Which, aside from the native tribes, is all of us.
It's just another day of dealing with lies, sleight of hand and fraud on a massive scale in this country and the world. I hope you're paying attention people. Because it's only going to get worse.

First off it wasn't illegals. It was a protest by any immigrant. They didn't show up for work so Delmar pizza couldn't open. It did not have the staff to function. No wonder the food sucks so bad. They hire the cheapest possible labor, and buy the cheapest possible ingredients. As a former loyal 20+ year customer, the food just kept getting worse and worse. It's inedible, and just the thought of eating there turns my stomach anymore.
Food has no flavor, no passion, just reheated US foods garbage. Even the pizza has gotten to be burnt toast with little flavor.

Need to hire a real head chef to change the place around, source quality local ingredients when can, or at least buy Boars Head or some other quality deli meats, and better quality ingredients all around. Then hire competent english speaking line cooks (can be immigrants, just legal English speaking ones)

Today's walkout proved nothing except a lot of people are going to be without jobs tomorrow. My friend's assistant in her hair salon failed to show today. My friend went to the site she uses to hire people and had many people submitting resumes. Tomorrow she will interview 3 people and when the assistant shows up will be told to get any of her belonging out of the salon because she doesn't work their anymore. I read all the comments, and frankly I was ticked also. My experiences there have largely been good.
But I re-read the notice attached to this post; encourage others to do the same.
It stated that 'due to the protest' they were 'regretfully'...'forced to close' today.
That's just letting prospective customers know that something is broken today. The dishwasher and oven still work but we don't have enough employees to serve you properly. Don't know if they had a similar sign on the door. And it certainly is not advocating for the protest.
I hope to hear that those not at work are now looking for new jobs. And it was encouraging that later in the day they apparently gathered enough staff to open.

This was a protest by immigrants for immigrants. Delmar Pizza had no control over employees calling out or not showing up. The original posted said they were forced to close not that they chose to close. I applaud a family owned business that worked even harder today to be able to open and serve their customers. They are always one of the first businesses to support our schools. They deserve the community backing them not bashing them.
I personally stopped eating their stuff YEARS ago after that whole hepatitis scandal broke out.Just who I want to cook my meal,someone who is contagious.

I was born here. That makes me AMERICAN - not some hyphenated, bastardized, watered-down version of same. I don't understand how you think I'm disowning my heritage by following our country's laws. My heritage? LEGAL immigrants. This movement claims to be about all immigrants but I'm smart enough to look beyond the name to know the true purpose. Follow our laws to get here and follow them while you live here and we WILL embrace you. We are the most giving nation on the planet. Do otherwise and you deserve what you get.

It's beyond absurd and quite ignorant to even suggest the immigrants that came over decades ago aren't any different then the ones coming today. there is a huge difference.
Now if you were even the slightest bit educated you would realize many years ago most immigrants came did so with the intention of staying. Now if got out more and knew what was going on in the real world that is not how it is today. FYI most immigrants today do not want to be citizens. A very few percentage even make the attempt. Fact whether you choose to believe it or not and not believing only again goes to prove you need to get out more.

There is a difference between immigrants, "illegal" immigrants and refugees. We do not need or want illegal immigrants or refugees. They should stay in their own countries and if they are unhappy there they need to make changes there. Refugees should stay in their country they can find safe places there. Until we can help ALL of our own citizens we do not need to be taking on the world's problems. Other countries should take care of their own. And there is a difference in immigrants of years ago they came and they still honored their heritage but they "followed" our country's laws. Today that is not the case they want to change our way of life and not follow our laws. Protecting our borders is essential just as every other country does
Please stop perpetuating the myth that we are "all immigrants"! I did not immigrate to this country, I was born here. I am American. My family tree, my heritage, does contain people who came here from other countries (legally!). That makes them immigrants....not me. Get it? If not, there's always Google or Webster's to clarify the definitions for you.

1101/2-22-2017 absolutely right. when you mix business with politics the business always suffers regardless. businesses who like making money remain apolitical, those that don't learn fast the lessons unless they're just blind. starbucks thinks it doesn't matter but i've noticed a dip in people going there in recent months. they'll get it. just some are thicker than others.
