HURLOCK, MD - Bomb technicians with the Maryland State Fire Marshal Bomb Squad were requested by the Maryland State Police – Easton Barrack yesterday to determine the hazards associated with what was believed to be military ordnance discovered by a citizen collecting recyclables in the 6700 Block of Bobtown Road.
The Maryland State Police, Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office and the Hurlock Volunteer Fire Department assisted on the scene with traffic control and securing a perimeter as bomb technicians rendered safe multiple military grenades.
In total 38 grenades were recovered from along Bobtown Road. There were nine (9) live devices, nineteen (19) devices with fuse but no explosive filler and ten (10) inert devices recovered. The devices were determined to be hazardous and render safe procedures were conducted immediately at the scene; in addition six devices were transported to a nearby County landfill where they were counter charged.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) was also requested to assist in the investigation.
No injuries or property damage has been reported related to this incident.

Counter charged? That's a new one on me.
It would be interesting to know how did these grenades happened to get there. Oh, they were just laying on the side of the road, right?
