Korryn Gaines' estate seeks $4M in wrongful death lawsuit

TOWSON, Md. — A trial began Tuesday in a wrongful death lawsuit filed by the family of Korryn Gaines, the Randallstown woman shot and killed by Baltimore County police in 2016.

The story gained national attention when it began on Aug. 1, 2016 -- a fact that's mirrored in responses from potential jurors. Of the initial pool of 60, nearly half told the judge they had heard of this case.

"We're pleased with how things are going. We meticulously tried to select a jury, and we achieved that," said J. Wyndal Gordon, the attorney for the Gaines estate.

The final panel of nine women -- six jurors and three alternates -- was seated after lunchtime Tuesday at Baltimore County Circuit Court.

All women jurors? That's unusual. Not wrong, just unusual.

You won't be loving a jury when you get caught carrying a gun without a permit.

Why would you say that? There are a lot of people out there that believe the 2nd Amendment IS the ONLY permit one needs to own and carry a firearm. I am one of those people. I also believe citizens have a right to own any firearms the police and military have in their arsenal for the simple fact that the state should not be able to have a superior power over its' citizens. That goes right to the heart of the 2nd Amendment. Britain also tried to limit the firepower of this country's founding fathers, and if they had succeeded we probably would not be an independent nation that we are now.

You can win any lawsuit in Baltimore. Do you think she would have made that much in her life time - no. On welfare probably. If I wrong God forgive me. Sorry that she had to die.
