U.S. House of Representatives Passes Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act

WASHINGTON, DC: On December 6, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 38, the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act. The legislation allows concealed carry permit holders to carry a concealed handgun into or possess a concealed handgun in another state that allows concealed carry. Congressman Andy Harris (MD-01) released the following statement in support of the legislation:

“The Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act is common sense legislation that will only make our country safer. Every state in the Union has now adopted a concealed carry law. More than 12 million citizens have carry permits. And yet, the nation’s violent crime rate has fallen by 51 percent and hit a 43 year low. The Second Amendment helps keep Americans safe. It’s time for our federal government to secure the Constitutional right of law-abiding citizens to conceal carry across state lines.”

Let's keep it going on into the Senate! POTUS will sign the bill! 😀

You should of at least mentioned how difficult it will be to pass the senate. Perhaps dust off the old rule about 2hr limits, and of course alot of prayer.

Nice to see one Maryland congressman with common sense. Unfortunately, both Maryland senators are anti 2nd amendment tyrants that would rather citizens are denied their natural rights.

Great job now the Senate needs to do their job or give up their CCW's they carry everywhere and their Body Guards / Security. Governor Hogan needs to do what he promised to do during election and loosen up Maryland's requirements and cost.

Rights are not given.
They are exercised by those who have them.

Do you have the right to bear arms?

Question for those that support this law based on current Maryland law: what happens when a someone with a concealed permit tries to do what he/she feels right, and pulls their concealed gun in an incident in Maryland. How should the police proceed when they show up and it is still an active shooting?

An additional item that should be addressed by Congress is to make training uniform. Some states have watered down their training so much it is laughable.
