Berlin Man Suffered Life-Threatening Injuries In Ocean City 7-31-17

A Berlin man suffered life-threatening injuries early this morning when he jumped off an anchored boat near the Ocean City Inlet.

Richard Wade Tesar, 30, was flown to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore for treatment.

The 911 call came into Maryland Natural Resources Police shortly after 1 a.m. Tesar was aboard a 22-foot pleasure boat with six other people. He went to jump off the boat and slipped on the edge, causing him to fall awkwardly and break his neck.

First responders from the Ocean City Fire Department stabilized him and transferred him to a Coast Guard boat. He was brought to shore, where Trooper 5 had landed.

Maryland Natural Resources Police continues its investigation.

Sad, no matter what you need to be careful. Slipping on water or alcohol doesn't matter this young guy is looking at some serious problems,we need to pray for him.

Does it matter what was involved, this man is one of our own here in OC, very loved, well known, upstanding, amazing friend and father. Extremely heart wrenching to know our friend might be paralyzed. Praying for recovery, praying for his family too!

Prayers for full recovery!

Wishing him a positive prognosis and excellent doctors. Unless he was driving that boat prior to his fall alcohol consumption is irrelevant.

I don't know if alcohol was involved or not, but even if it was, no one "deserves" to be paralyzed even if he was drinking. I am praying for this man and his family.

Regardless it was a accident. I'll be praying for this young man, and his family.
I'll also pray for those that seem to have forgotten about empathy for families going through tuff times.
