The Average American Family Pays More Money in Regulations Than in Taxes

ORLANDO, FL — At a panel on the wide-ranging effects of government regulations, Florida Congressman Ron DeSantis argued that the average American family pays more money in hidden costs due to regulations than in direct taxes.

"I've seen some pretty credible analysis that suggests that the cost of indirect taxes through bureaucracy, through regulatory policy, through red tape, actually imposes a greater total burden on the average American family than what the government's imposing on you through direct taxes," DeSantis declared at the Defending the American Dream Summit run by Americans for Prosperity.

It works like this. "Regulatory costs are passed on to you as an American citizen," the congressman explained. When the government subsidizes ethanol or mandates a certain percentage in oil, for example, it helps some farmers and lobbyists, but harms everyone else. Groceries and energy become more expensive. "I represent a coastal district in Florida, and anyone who likes to go out on a boat, their engines get ruined from using the gas," DeSantis said.

Less regulations should mean less bureaucrats needed to enforce those regulations. Thank GOD we finally have a common sense President.

Like the sunshine tax in Maryland. Shouldn't renewable resources be CHEAPER than fossil fuels? Somehow, the politicians get in bed with the green companies and, voila, an expensive regulation that benefits big business.

8:16 AM: Don't be so naive... Currently, Renewable resources are NOT cheaper than Fossil Fuels, becasue Fossil fuels have been around since the 1800's or earlier... They are intertwined with every day products, even you wouldn't know are made from oil or fossil fuels... Eventually, if or when renewable resources such as, solar panels get more efficient, and cheaper to make here in the states, sadly they won't be cheap for a very long time... It all has to do with, as you know MONEY!!! With renewable resources such as solar panels, you are cutting back on certain things essentially, and well people who make money off of resources want to charge more to make up for the loss, which is why when you tax people to where they can no longer buy certain goods, and have to worry about buying the necessity items, everyone, including the politicians, want to raise taxes to offset what people can't buy due to taxes in the first place...
