GOP Rep Introduces National Concealed Carry Reciprocity On Day One of New Congress

Hudson’s office published this summary of the legislation:

Rep. Hudson’s bill, which is supported by major pro-Second Amendment groups, would allow people with a state-issued concealed carry license or permit to conceal a handgun in any other state that allows concealed carry, as long as the permit holder follows the laws of that state. It also allows residents of Constitutional carry states the ability to carry in other states that recognize their own resident’s right to concealed carry.

Note: Hudson’s legislation not only establishes national reciprocity for concealed permit holders but also national reciprocity for residents who live in states that require no permit for concealed carry. In the former situation the concealed carry permit of any state would be valid in every state and the “identification document” in possession of a resident of a constitutional carry state would serve as a permit to carry without a license in other states.

About time!! You hear that, Hogan!!

Would Maryland residents be able to CC if this law passes? It sure sounds like we would. It's been a long time coming but with Trump at the wheel we are going to see some positive change, unlike the last eight long years.

Better re-read it several times. If you have a permit from another state, MD would need to recognize it but you are still subject to MD laws of CCW. MD resident without a permit still not allowed to carry in MD.

Faster than you can blink, states are working on drafting regulations pertaining to their CCW laws that would need to be followed by anyone carrying in that state regardless of where that person's permit was issued.

md will figure a way around it

and the loophole for md

is entitled to carry a concealed firearm in the State in which the person resides

so Marylander's still wont be able to carry, but anyone else with a permit will

What if you have say a Florida or a Utah non resident c&c???

The CCW laws need to be standardized to some extent as well - by federal mandate...just like driving is different from state to state - but a common set of ground rules!

Lets get more guns so that the probability of more shootings goes up.

sorry 11:51, the law as written seems to state you need a permit from your home state.

What if the sun don't come up in the East? If you wish to carry, go ahead with your bad self. Government has not right telling you what to do if you are a adult.

Should be less shootings when the bad boys figure out you shoot back.

10:30 AM:

NO MD residents would not be allowed to get a CC permit based on this law if passed, it would allow people who have CC permits with other states to be recognized by Maryland... If you are one of the lucky few who get a VA or UT CC permit for out of state residence, this means you would be able to carry in the state of Maryland with that permit, but only in places that allow guns and not federal buildings and schools and bars and such..

12:40: Are you dumb or just plain Stupid??? The reason for all the gun crime is no one can have a gun to shot back or defend themselves... Are you more likely to rob a police station or Fort Knox if you know military or cops are there??? Of course not, start using your brain and think...

From what I hear, since I have not read the Bill, is you must have a permit from your home state for you to CC in another State under this Federal Law as written. I interpret that as if you have an out of State / non-resident CC, Utah / Florida / VA / PA, you do not qualify to CC under this Bill in all States.

1:28...no not stupid but the majority of people want "some" form of gun control. You gun slingers are a minority but have the biggest mouths.
Statistics and facts are not on your side. When you have 2 cars in the world there is less chance of an accident. If everyone had guns , including those that do not know how to use one and to those who think that the do the probability of gun accidents, misfires, in the wrong hands, depression, and stupidity increases the likelihood of accidents. I believe in gun rights like most BUT not everyone should own one

2:37 think about what you are saying and apply that rationale to cars. There is a high percentage of cars on the road that the drivers are not qualified they have no insurance they have expired / stolen or switched tags. Why are they allowed to be on the road? The vehicle is one of the largest and most dangerous weapons out there.
