Fox News host Sean Hannity confirmed Republican nominee Donald Trump’s claims that he always had a negative view on the Iraq war Monday evening.
“I had numerous conversations with Sean Hannity at Fox,” Trump said during the Monday debate. “He and I used to have arguments about the war. I said it’s a terrible, stupid thing. It’s going to destabilize the Middle East, and that’s exactly what it’s done.”
Hannity interviewed Trump after the debate, when he confirmed the pair had private debates on the war. “You know how many times we had conversations about that? You told me I was wrong, in fairness,” Hannity said on Fox News.
“It was respectful and I understood where you were coming from,” Trump replied. “I was against the war, I thought it would destabilize the Middle East. I didn’t realize it would be managed so badly,” he added.
