Baltimore fires city lawyer with neo-Nazi ties

BALTIMORE —City Hall fired a lawyer hired to defend police against misconduct allegations. It happened after a Southern Poverty Law Center investigation exposed attorney Glen Allen as longtime supporter of a Neo-Nazi group and a racist organization.

City officials maintain Allen was fully vetted. What they missed is especially surprising since the city remains at the center of a national debate over police violence.

"None of the historical facts and alleged facts recently publicized about Mr. Allen's political views and affiliations were disclosed or discussed when his contract was agreed to. The law department does not, as a general practice, question its hired or contract attorneys about their political views," the mayor's office said in a statement.

Allen has a history of supporting the neo-Nazi National Alliance. He told the New York Daily News he distanced himself from the group back in the '80s.

So much for freedom of association! While I don't agree with the organizations actions and wouldn't be a member myself - as long as he didn't act on behalf of the organization or against its detractors - he should be free to harbor his own opinions.

This is no different than a republican businessman that despises the HildaBeast firing someone with a "Hillary for President" bumper sticker on their car!

A person should be fired and more for displaying such trash on a perfectly good bumper. That bumper is there for some protection, the described or mention subject will not protect you. That has been proven over and over.

He'll know exactly who to sue.

SPLC is a hate group wrapped around a warm and fuzzy name. He should sue them for interfering in his work.

Without my supporting his personal views in any, way, shape, form, think this third party took action knowing it would cause him loss of reputation and income.

Hope he gets two big settlements.
