Austin Police chief ‘sickened, saddened’ by violent arrest

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin Chief of Police Art Acevedo says newly released dash camera video of how an officer conducted a traffic stop with a black woman will not be tolerated by the department, and he is making a public apology to the victim.

Austin police say the traffic stop happened on June 15, 2015. In the video, an Austin Police Department officer is seen conducting a traffic stop on East Riverside Drive near Burton Drive. The officer’s lights and siren were on when he pulled over 26-year-old Breaion King.

As the cars come to a stop in a parking lot, King steps out of her car as Officer Bryan Richter approaches her. As he asks her to get back into the car, the two continue speaking. King is sitting in the driver’s seat when the officer asks King to put her feet inside the car and from there the situation escalates.

If not for the camera we would be hearing a totally different story.

Who gets out the car when they are stopped by police? This puts these officers on edge...especially these days. The officer has no idea what or who is in the car.

Someone has some issues that need attention. That would be the guy.

Incompetent leader going to turn it over to the DOJ. We still didn't see the piece close up when the good man walked up to the driver. If the good man had got on his knees and requested papers, the driver would scream raciest.

He bashes the officer for having answered the question of the female, yet he is all over promoting BLM, can you say double standard. And AGAIN just comply with the officers, how hard is that it do. You would have a big decrease in confrontations if you would just comply and any problems can be settled thru the proper channels.

If you are afraid of the public then stop pulling us over to issue silly money tickets for your masters.

We are still free people. If we want to get out of our vehicles, then we will do just that.
