Because Owning Tens Of Millions Of Dollars Worth Of Fire Equipment Is Obviously This Important

No matter what the SFD's argument is going to be here to defend, (make excuses) their position, pictures don't lie.

We need a new fire station on this or that side of town to respond quicker and "SAVE LIVES". We need more paid firefighters. We need new upgraded equipment. No matter what they excuses are, images like the ones above prove time and time again, these guys are full of crap.

Yeah, I know this article seems critical. I know you guys get all butt hurt ANY time I am critical of Police and or Firefighters. However, I'm the only guy out there with the stones enough to call it as I see it and not walk around kissing your rear ends because, (as I believe you like to call yourselves) you're heroes.

Yeah, we know, this house should have had sprinklers. It should have been located closer to the fire house. Whatever the excuse, it's gone. I'll just say, you did a mighty fine job putting the fire out and keeping it under control, right to the very end. Looks like you saved the detached garage though. Thank God it was 50 yards away.

The house in question was vacant and was in the process of being remodeled. On the initial call received by the Wicomico county 911 center, the Caller stated the structure was fully involved, with fire showing from all sides. The first arriving piece of apparatus was on scene in approximately 3 mins. The fire had been burning for some time before the 911 caller was aware of it and placed the call for help. The structure was on the ground by the time the fire department arrived on scene, the simple fact is there was nothing left to save.

You are free to do better.

OK now that we know the rest of the story, do you still feel the Salisbury Fire Department is at fault and needs to defend itself? Just because the tens of millions of $ worth of alleged equipment the Salisbury Fire Department owns was unable to save a structure that was fully engulfed this time, does not mean the tens of millions of $ worth of alleged equipment won't save a structure in the next fire. Why does SBYNews IMO always use every chance possible to trash LEO and firemen.

How can a fire be burning for some time and go unnoticed. There is a problem here with both the Salisbury Fire Department and the Wicomico County 911 dispatch center. This house is right across the street from a convenience store, a major auto dealership and less than a block away from a major interstate. There are houses all around this place so don't tell me the fire went unnoticed before the first person called 911.

The bottom line is the Salisbury Fire Department and Wicomico 911 is a JOKE and a waste of major tax dollars!! The leadership in the Salisbury Fire Department has been a problem for years and it keeps getting worse. Thank you for posting these pictures Joe.

Why did the new headquarters have to built n the west side when the need was more on the north side with homes and businesses there. Does it have to deal with that site was the old city dump and could not be used for nothing? Was it because of the kickbacks given? It has no access to any area except west of the 50 bridge, since they either have to fight the 50 traffic or go west to Naylor Mill Rd which takes critical minutes. There is still no firehouse on the north end. There could have been a station put on Naylor Mill Rd and there would have been better access for the north and west sides. But that would have cost thinking with common sense in stead of lining my pockets with kickbacks. IMO the ones responsible for these critical mistakes were Pollitt, See, Gordy and Hoppes, "The Good Ole Boys". I didn't bring up the Ambulance service or why equipment is always riding around when not on call. That is probable to increase response time if they luck out.

They just built an $8 Million brick firehouse in a blight infested neighborhood and they still couldn't save this house with paid firemen on duty.

Proves that new equipment, new firehouses and paid firemen don't save Sh!t in Salisbury. All a farce, a scam, a fraud.

Especially when you have a lame fire department with lame leadership.

Far Cheef Richardhead A. Hoppes. Need we say more.

The Bill Gordy Fire Department(BGFD) certainly can't do the job.

I heard this was Jim Ireton's and Jake Day's Nuclear Option to the Wicomico County Council.

Anonymous said...

Rick Hoppes and John Tull implemented the City's Nuclear Option on this one. If you live in the county of Salisbury's fire district you better be scared. You better be very scared.

Why did the Naylor Street Palace #2 have to be built on the corner of Naylor and Brown Streets. That is a mansion in that slum. What a waste of tax dollars. You better believe Rick Hoppes, Bill Gordy and John Tull were behind that one. They built it smaller than the original firehouse because their plan is to run out the volunteers and replace them with paid firemen when the city approves it. Why do you think there was a fiasco with the 12 paid firemen funded by that 2 year Federal Grant. They want the tax payers to pay for those 12 fireman to assign to Station #2, the Naylor Street Palace.

Anonymous said...

FYI the current fire station Number #2 just went out for bids to be torn down because it has been "Condemned" by the City of Salisbury. That's right an outsider from the other side of the bridge got the bid to tear down Station #2. The city is going to pay an outsider $50,000 to tear down Station #2.

First question is why does a perfectly good building have to be torn down?

Second question is you mean to tell me you couldn't find someone local to tear down a building?

Anonymous said...

The building has to come down because it is in the deed. It is going back to the original owners.
That being said the current building has been built in the wrong place. It should be up north.

Anonymous said...

It happens all the time. Some people don't want to get involved and don't call in. Also at night it can go unnoticed even if you live next door and yes that does happen. 911 can't dispatch unless they get a call. And it is possible in a short amount of time to be fully involved and beyond saving. You don't have a clue, you just want to Monday night quarterback and bi**" about something that you don't truly understand

Sometimes people assume someone has called a fire in but no one has.Seen it in Seaford a huge woods fire burned for over an hour before someone called it in.

Anonymous said...

the new fire station had to be placed there so it is in close proximity to church st. this will allow quick response to spraying blood from sidewalks and streets due to gun and stab wounds. welcome to da bury and may God bless

That is incorrect. I asked the owners(Morris) and they told me the city told them the building was "Condemned" and it had to come down.

You are wrong. Rick Hoppes, John Tull, Darrin Scott, Bill Gordy, Jim Ireton and Jake Day want the building torn down so that the public, original owners and the tax payers can't see that the nothing was really wrong with the building and there was no need to tear down a perfectly good building.

As long as you have Rick Hoppes, John Tull and Darrin Scott running things and spending your money this is what you will get. Pathetic leadership.

Anonymous said...

Rick Hoppes was the laziest person that ever worked for the Salisbury Fire Department. Every day the fire engines were supposed to be checked and he rolled around on an office chair with wheels because he was to lazy to walk and bend over. Assistant Chief Grogan would get so p!ssed at him. Now look where laziness got him. Chief of the Salisbury Fire Department.

So now you know why the Salisbury Fire Department is the way it is.

Church Street doesn't deserve a fire house or an ambulance service. Let them shoot it out and kill each other like Detroit, Chicago and Baltimore.

The City is paying $50,000 to tear down a perfectly good building? As bad as the city needs office space and they are going to tear this building down? Have they lost their friggin minds? Couldn't this be a substation for the Salisbury Police Department? Neighborhood Services, Building Housing and Zoning or what ever they call it now? Public works? Mayor's Office? Anything can be put in that building. They should move out of the Government Office Building and let the County have it. They already gave away the old fire station to a friend of Jim's.

What you say Muir Boda? Didn't you claim to be the conservative libertarian? Why don't you speak up about this city building since it is in your district. "Deed" or no deed I am sure you can work something out.

This is in the County and the Salisbury Fire Deparment doesn't even have Tanker for a rural water supply. Poor Leadership again. Rick Hoppe and John Tull want the territory but they don't have enough sense to get a Tanker. Damn Idiots!
