WHY HAVEN'T CHARGES BEEN FILED ON EDEN PUPPY MILL OWNERS?

That seems to be the number one question people are asking me. There's a very logical answer, due diligence.

We stated yesterday that the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office assisted the Humane Society and it is at this time the Humane Society's case. Once charges are filed, then it will be taken over by the Sheriff's Department.

Now I know the majority of you want answers and quite frankly so do a lot of other elected officials. However, you have to understand just how overwhelmed the new Director has been since the moment this happened.

Fourteen hours went into rescuing these 300+ animals. Some news sources, (by the way) are claiming charges have been filed, THEY HAVE NOT.

The MOST IMPORTANT thing that has to be done right here and now is the health and welfare of all of these animals. Once they are able to get some kind of control, then you might see charges. However, everything has to be investigated, logged and in order, (due diligence) in order for any charges to be filed.

So please, concentrate your energy towards first helping any way you can. Let the Humane Society, Sheriff's Office and States Attorney do their jobs. Look at our earlier press release on how you can help and we will keep you updated just as soon as each piece of information comes in.

Great job being done by all involved

There are over 300 dogs. They all have to be examined by veterinarians and reports written up and consultations w/the SA's office. There will be multiple counts on each of the charges filed because of the number of dogs. This is what is taking time.

This is not a who done it. It's obvious who is responsible. A press conference should be held the moment charges are filed and arrest warrants issues and a perp walk orchestrated so the media can video tape and photograph these horrible excuses for human beings.

Because it takes time with such a huge number of animals. relax, they're coming.

Joe...the HS really needs one or two portable storage units for a month or two. They are already almost out of room in their storage just from today's donations. The items will need to be organized and some of it will go to the other agencies who also took in some of these dogs. Portable storage can be moved to those agencies with a minimum of labor and gas. Any help reaching out would be welcomed!

The States Attorney may chose to the grand jury route with a case like this or they may choose to bring charges through the other methods available to them. Irregardless there will be charges I can assure you of that! The length of an investigation in a case like this may be lengthy just based on the number of dogs and the individual assessments required as part of a thorough investigation.

Even though there are no charges, AS YET, why haven't the name(s) of the property owners been disclosed?? I think that's what a lot of people want to know. This whole puppy mill could not have been a secret to their neighbors & family.

I had a neighbor who had a gazillion cats.He kept a layer of newspapers on the floor in every square foot of his house and simply put another layer of newspapers over where they had messed.Suffice it to say he had zero company EVER.When he passed away the cats simply left on their own & were gone before animal control arrived.None would have made good pets because he was the only one who could get near them.He lived where the mobile home park currently is at the corner of Connelly Mill Rd and 675.

Any chance they are mentally ill??

No 7:14. It's a husband and a wife so the chances of them both being mentally ill is unlikely. They are heartless garbage is what they are. It's my understanding they were selling very few of the puppies and that's why they had so many dogs. They just kept breeding and selling a few maybe making a few hundred or so every few month and the ones who weren't sold were tossed aside and neglected and used to produce more puppies.

Patience, people, patience. This case has at least 300 pieces of evidence.

No names will be released or reported because the name is one of the old established families here on the shore.

Who is to say that this couple won't be long gone by the time charges are filed? They have to be accountable for what they have done to these poor dogs!
