Please, No More Dry Dog Food

The Humane Society no longer needs dry dog food or newspapers. If anyone still wants to bring in supplies we can always use bleach, fabuloso, Clorox spray, towels and unstuffed blankets. The donations have been greatly appreciated and it's amazing to see the generosity and support of the community.

Great news! Whoever heard of a shelter not needing dry dog food! Great job everyone. Just when you think humanity has hit rock bottom you read something like this and it proves that there is still good in the community.

even newspapers are not good enough to poop on lol

Old bath towels or do they mean paper towels? I have tons of old bath towels if they need them.

I just heard the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) is going to be assisting with the cost of the veterinary care for the dogs.

8:04 I heard the county was stopping recycling of newspapers so the shelter could have them so that's why newspapers not needed. I would imagine old bath towels are always needed. Also don't forget several other shelters (Worcester, Somerset and Talbot) have taken in a few of the dogs so they need supplies too.

Bath towels for bathing and grooming. UNSTUFFED linens....no comforters please. Cleaning supplies like Fabuloso ($ General), bleach, BLUE Dawn dish detergent (for bathing), laundry detergent, WET dog food, puppy pads, Odoban (ask at Sam's). METAL feeding bowls (no ceramic or plastic). Small dog collars. Paper towels. Dog treats. STURDY boxes to be able to store/transport bleach bottles and cleaning supplies. Cardboard flats to stack and store loose canned food.

Consider calling in a week or so, after the medical needs have been established, to see if specialized food or medical supplies (like syringes) are needed.

And, please, consider the staff and volunteers. They are working non-stop amid the chaos. I know they have had lunch donated every day through Saturday. I'm sure quick snacks and drinks would be most welcome!

Maybe they have had a deluge of dry food and need other goods now more. Can't you people exercise some common sense when reading these things. When they say they need towels, Clorox etc. that generally means, those are the items they have a shortage of.

Cardboard flats? Would that be the same thing as the flats for six pack sodas and cans? I just want to clarify...

Yes. We are getting a lot of loose cans in plastic grocery bags. The bags rip and are hard to stack for storage. Big boxes wont work for the canned dog food as they get too heavy to carry.

The county dropped off two pallets. The community dropped off an additional three pallets. We simply have nowhere to put any more at this time.

Can't you people exercise some common sense when talking to citizens who have a heart! That's why I have never set a foot in that place, because of people like you.

SO WHY DID THIS HAPPEN???
Multiple call over years to animal control
Multiple calls Sherffs office
Multiple visits to property
ANIMAL CONTROL -the humane society AND WCSD DROPPED THE BALL BIGTIME.

9:37 Get over yourself, old grumpy fart. No one said anything where they didn't use common sense. You people....

I agree 8:06 and public outcry should be directed at them as well. Incompetent buffoons is the only explanation.

Yes they did 8:06. I'm just wondering if it wasn't the new director of the humane society who got the ball rolling on this? That Fitzgerald and the board of the humane society need to be run out of town because they are worthless POS. They better be making huge contributions towards the care of these dogs because each and every single one of them are just as responsible as the dogs former owners and they ought to be ashamed of themselves. A director of animal control like Fitzgerald and the board of that humane society are an animals worst enemy.

People, PLEASE get your facts straight and STOP BLAMING THE WCHS! They are not the same as Animal Control and they don't have the power to investigate, remove or prosecute! They are only authorized to CARE for the animals surrendered to them!!!! I've seen this stated several times by the media and I'm sick of seeing good people maligned for something they had nothing to do with!!!!

Just wanted to emphasize:

DO NOT bring any more newspapers to the Wicomico County Humane Society.

PLEASE stop, for the love of god.

7:18 That's rude! Just graciously take the newspaper and dispose of it quietly. Not all people read the updates and not all people have the means to donate much more than their read newspapers. They think they are helping.
If your attitude is indicative of those at the Humane Society God Help Those Poor Animals!
