Police Involved Accident On Chesapeake Bay Bridge

These are photos I just took from the accident at the bay bridge where an officer was struck about an hour ago...

The Officer was struck while conducting a traffic stop. He was flown to shock trauma.

No il respect meant but, MD has so MANY police organizations that's the odds of a collision with one of there members is pretty high. Since they are all paid for by the Government, there's no cause for taxpayer concern though. Oh, did I mention that they are all backed up by the National Guard too?

Bad guys be warned!!

I hope officer will be ok. Sitting in traffic isn't fun, but I am ok. Which is more than can be said for him.

Yes. Husband has been stuck in it for a couple of hours. Maryland traffic website says it won't be cleared until midnight.

Praying for his recovery. Also peace to the one who hit him.

Traffic stop ON THE BRIDGE? Couldn't wait until they got off the bridge to a shoulder area to pull someone over? Where are they going to escape to, over the guardrail? Isn't there a "Ne Stopping or Standing" law on the bridge?

I'm confused about the logic here.

I saw the VMS sign east of MD 2 that said Wreck at exit 31. All lanes blocked. Use alternate route. Got off at Wawa and used Collage Avenue to go around it.

This type of foolishness would be reduced if the cops quit displaying reward flashing light and stopped parking their car with the left front quarter partly in the through traffic lane.

When was the last time you heard of unattended parked car on the shoulder of the road being crashed into? I asked that question to a MDTA cop once, His response was blank stare and a shrug.

The quarter panel out is for deflection and gives anyone, cop or civilian a better chance to survive if a collision occurs while they're on the side of the road.
Now the tool who sent in the pictures is one negligent person. Taking your eyes of the road for pictures. With all the rubber necking going on .... You are the reason for the many other accidents that occur around the primary one. Putting many first responders lives at stake.
