"Me" may have overlooked the cost and logistical difficulty of conveyance to populated areas.
And windmills offshore that affect marine life and are a maintenance problem.
The Sahara can produce violent sand storms that would ruin anything in it's path. Also we or me wouldn't want to hurt the endangered species of the Sahara spider or lizard (I forgot which one ), maybe it was a snake , oh well .
