Why The Heck Are Salisbury Residents So Upset About Cracker Barrel Not Coming To The Mall?

Have you looked around lately? I'd say Salisbury has more Handicap parking spaces and more Handicap scooters with massive food bins in the front then any other community on the entire Shore.

Why, because when you do finally open your eyes the majority of people using them are just plain OBESE. It's NOT because the masses are injured. It's because, well, they just don't eat healthy.

So while many of these obese people might be upset that Cracker Barrel can't land a deal in the Mall, the last thing this area needs is another heart attack waiting to happen restaurant opening their doors.

Mayor Day says, not to worry though Folks. He's confident they'll find another location somewhere in Salisbury. After all, the City cares more about the Almighty Tax Dollars over any one's health anyway.

Kinda makes you wonder why there's no Jenny Craig or Weight Watchers stores opening here. They'd make a killing! Then again, maybe not.

Now who wants to meet me at Sam's Club for a $1.81 Nathans Hot Dog and a Soda?

I tried to join you at Sam's but all the handicapped parking was taken.

And then come meet over at the nice park behind Chipman cultural center that has absolutely zero regular parking a spaces but 10 all handicapped. You have to get a handicap placard just to take your kid to a nice playground.

Low IQ white trash and other undesirables. Very few people have any taste locally. They eat seafood at red lobster - nuff said.

Mayor Day shouldn't be too confidant because Cracker Barrel has been looking at locations in Salisbury and Fruitland for many years and they end up walking away for one reason or another.

Joe's right, folks.
Cracker Barrel's food is FULL of sugar.
I was stunned to find out that their 'Sawmill gravy' has both regular and brown sugar in it.
Gravy??
Next time you go to a Cracker Barrel, just watch out the window at the people coming and going, and see how many of them waddle.
Cracker Barrel (and to a lesser extent Bob Evans) are sugar merchants. Sugar, white flour and taters. They all metabolize the same.. just like sugar. And that's what most of their food is (cheap filler ingredients.) And the store in the lobby is wall to wall sugar.
It's OK to do that once in a while, but it will kill you if you eat much of it.
Oh, and their prices go up every time they reprint the menus. We can barely afford to eat there anymore. For three of us at lunch, we're at about $40-45 out the door.
You're not missing much. We actually prefer Denny's in Fruitland, or Caesar's in Princess Anne.

They were the first clowns that became Anti-Southern, Anti-Confederacy, Anti-Confederate Battle Flag. I won't be spending any money in that racist place.

Your beloved chik fil a is no better when it comes to not being healthy....look at their website for calories/fat/sodium levels. One meal there has more sodium than recommended per day.

632 your are awesome. Bashing the incredients of Cracker Barrel but think Denny's is better or The slop in PA. Ha.

I personally don't think a mall parking lot is a good place for Cracker Barrel. There are many other areas that are thriving for businesses and we need to develop Salisbury to a nicer city. More businesses means more jobs and money! I think the variety of restaurant options is always good.

Anonymous said...

I agree. Shows the mentality of people around here. It's a glorified gift shop with diner food.

Anonymous said...

Put it most anywhere in the city and they will come but would be smart to put it just over the De line.

What a cheap and hateful shot. Plenty of people are interested in this topic.

7:44, LMAO, thank you so much for cracking me up and proving my point.

Its just a wise business choice. Why would you open a new business in a dying area? The mall - all malls - are living on borrowed time. Internet buying, thugs in the mall, taxes, new diseases, etc........will all play a role in thee death of retail malls. Why would I subject myself to a mall where thugs roam freely and prices are inflated to cover the costs of high rent and taxes when I can shop from my computer anytime I want and have things delivered right to my door? If I was the owner of Cracker Barrel I would choose a location nearer to a resort attraction right on the main road. Not in a mall.

One thing about opinions....they are like belly buttons, everybody has one!! IF YOU DON'T LIKE SOME OF THESE RESTAURANTS...STAY THE HELL HOME and eat a salad!!! Doesn't mean the rest of us won't enjoy eating out...we can afford it, thanks for paying your taxes!!!! LOL

Cracker Barrel has been looking for a way to capture traffic from both 13 and 50. The mall area, and the area near Perdue stadium were prime prospects.
If they can't put up a tall sign, they probably won't come.

I know where CB will eventually settle in our area because I have a family member in that organization.Everyone will be surprised, but pleased with the location.Technology has played a huge part in that decision, and the median income just barely met their standards. As is the usual CB protocol, they have chosen the most heavily traveled JUNCTURE in the area, which was determined by extensive study. It will be the largest CB in Maryland.

Heck, just look at our grocery store choices. It just keeps getting more and more ghetto. I travel several hours just to get to a WEGMANS.

You peeps have no clue as to the marvelous other choices there are and ya'll are all fallin over each other for a cracker barrel?

I am pretty sure all Restaurants at the Centre are doing Well. Cracker Barrell wants a better deal then the property owners are willing to give. When they couldn't make a deal with Donnie Hall , who is anxious to rent space and a honorable businessman, they should just forget being here. We have a lot of Restaurants that have similar menu's that do a good job. We don't need them. I am glad the Centre stuck to their guns an did not make the deal.

Anonymous said...

I have been telling folks for years that the best burger around here is a at the Silver Saddle. Forget CB.

Anonymous said...

Food Lion and Walmart dominate the grocery business - and shut down all the other grocery stores we used to have.I wish we had Wegmans in MD.

Develope Salisbury ? With more restaurants? Need jobs that pay like manufacturing jobs to do what your little bitty thinks is developing.

Anonymous said...

6:41 I wonder if that was behind the anchor store blocking it in the mall? Makes me wonder-

Anonymous said...

Salisbury needs another restaurant. More minimum wage jobs.

Anonymous said...

940 smh you blogging with the rest of us. Stop being fake. Dead beat with a key board.

Anonymous said...

9:40 is correct. I travel to Annapolis once a month just to shop at Trader Joe's, and Every other week at Acme in Easton. In Salisbury there are few options where to shop for groceries. It's either Food Lion or Giant. I refuse to shop at Wal Mart. Produce is nasty and the meat section is questionable!
I know Salisbury can do better!!!

A large amount of land was purchased at the RT 50 Naylor Mill road interchange. The news says they are planning to build hotels in that area. I'll bet that is where Cracker Barrel will have their new location.

Anonymous said...

I sure would be glad if a Publix came to town, forget Cracker Barrel.

Anonymous said...

Denny's in Fruitland is quite different than the one in Salisbury. Some healthier choices.

Anonymous said...

Chain restaurants suck anyway. Go to a local restaurant and help someone in the community.

LadyLiddy said...

We call it "slacker" barrel in my family. I can't commit that much time to eating a meal!

Anonymous said...

Everytime Cracker Barrel is mentioned as moving or not moving to Salisbury the haters come out. I would rather have another multi choice menu in Salisbury than another fast food. All we have are multiple hamburg joints, Oriental, chicken, steak houses and too many bars.

Anonymous said...

How about we just get some decent stores instead of worrying about more places to eat.

Anonymous said...

Cracker Barrel will be building by the Royal Farms store off of the bypass near White Lowe Road!

Anonymous said...

Cracked Barrel gets approx. 50% of its revenue from its retail shop. I don/t think this area has enough tourist traffic to support a restaurant in Salisbury

Anonymous said...

I have eaten at CB several times when we headed south and have enjoyed their meals. I am one of the fools looking forward to a
CB in Salisbury. I just hope the quality of their food is as
good as the restaurants in the south.

I guess some of you think you are God's gift to women or men, huh? If you do not like to eat at restaurants like Cracker Barrel, then DON'T. Stop your bellyaching and get on with your wonderful life. Man, a lot of crybabies around here.

bayman said...

I would also like to see a Bahama Breeze come here. Now I guess the high and mighty people will have a comment to make about this too.

bayman said...

The Mayor shouldn't say anything about Cracker Barrel, when the city has stopped Cracker Barrel every time.

Anonymous said...

I refuse to eat at any restaurant (Cracker Barrel is one of them) where I have to stand around and wait for seat for 30 minutes before getting a table-no way

Anonymous said...

Cracker Barrel is just another nail in the coffin of most diabetics. I am a diabetic and you really need to read labeling on everything you eat. I've been working with food since 1974, read the labels.

Anonymous said...

I just don't understand why more businesses don't come here. I know the Salisbury Police are falsifying the crime rates to try and help. Isn't there more we can do to bring jobs here?

Anonymous said...

Cracker Barrel has gotten a bad reputation just because of it's name ,
"Cracker" considered racist for white people. So I guess having looked at the minority population in Salisbury , it's a no-no.
It just ain't politically correct!

Anonymous said...

I go for the gift shop not the food, unique items and nice clothing

Anonymous said...

How come there is no TGIFs?

Anonymous said...

Unfortunately , the ghetto trash and shore billies would never be able to afford to shop in Wegmans.

Anonymous said...

The reasons I like Cracker Barrel are the prices, the choices and a nice sit down meal. I am sick of fast food crying bellying aching children, and parents who never correct them. We have a monopoly
of fast food, chicken, hamburgers, Chinese, steak and grease joints. We used to have sit down restaurants where people can gather and chat now all we have is Daytons unless you want to travel out of Salisbury, In the old days we had Johnnys & Sammys, English Grill, Doughroller, Bonanza, Saddle Club etc, just something so different then now.

Anonymous said...

Just let the folks have it. If it's not meant to be then economics will eventually settle this! It's all about choice and no one, or government, has the right to limit your choices!!

Anonymous said...

I don't eat at franchise restaurants!

Anonymous said...

"You peeps have no clue as to the marvelous other choices there are and ya'll are all fallin over each other for a cracker barrel?" Wow - some of you little people really are impressed with yourselves. I seriously doubt that you are any more aware than anyone else around here of 'the marvelous other choices'. If you don't like CB, that's fine. I don't either. But acting like you're better than everyone else simply shows that you aren't better than anybody.

2:48-very perceptive. They always know where the better places are but they won't tell. And the idea that whatever place someone suggests they have a problem with it is indeed the dead giveaway. The secret is being truly thankful for all that we have.

Anonymous said...

12:26 Everyone in the trailer park agrees with you! There are only a few restaurants in the area that actually prepare and cook food. La Roma is closed so that eliminates one of them. If there are more than two (2) of the restaurants, it is a chain. How do people living between the Chesapeake Bay and the Atlantic Ocean eat at Red Lobster?

Anonymous said...

Salisbury really don't need another restaurant. Everything one eat is processed or pressed food. No one can cook. And, the hygiene of most employees are questionable. The restaurants in Salisbury basically serve nasty and bland food. The raw salt we use to season the food is killing most customer due to hypertension. The food is just nasty. Period.

after reading these comments, some people shouldnt have internet access. Just because I like Cracker Barrel, I'm white trash? I will be sure to tell the HOA of the neighborhood of two storied homes that we are white trash.

Weight watchers is over by KMART

Anonymous said...

Unfortunately, both Wegmans and Harris Teeter both take food stamps.

Anonymous said...

There is a Wegmans in Frederick.

I hate Wegmans and Harris Teeter.Too pretentious.
