With 207 Votes, Ireton's Nipples Are Hard And He Now Wants To Run For Congress

Just a few moments after Ireton announced his victory in downtown Salisbury, he spoke with WBOC about his future and future of the city council. Ireton said it was important to continue to focus on the development of downtown Salisbury, bringing more jobs to the city, and continuing to lower the crime rate. But Ireton also said he may be in another election in the near future.

"It's incredible to have won four elections in the last 16 years. I have traveled all across Maryland telling everyone about the good things that happen in Salisbury. So at this point, we are going to be taking a look at the first district congressional race to find out whether there is an opportunity there," Ireton said.

Ireton said he would make a definitive decision on whether to enter that race in the near future.

We can see why he's so excited after only garnishing 207 votes. In true Liberal fashion, a victory is a victory no matter how embarrassing.

Andy Harris must be quaking in his boots at this news.

He and fake day are so transparent but it is also so clear how the public contributed to this by allowing him to continue to be elected.

His only goal in this race is to further his career and he will serve no purpose on the council. He will run on the taxpayers dime, getting council pay while running for his next position. And we all fell for it and allowed it to happen. And I am sure fake day knew and supported it.

What a sad pathetic place this is.

I guarantee you this is also Mitchells strategy.

This guy is delusional. "The good things that happen in Salisbury ". Are you kidding me? Ireton you are a the worst kind of joke. A dangerous one. You are directly responsible for the massive societal decline in this area. You should be run out of town after being tarred and feathered. You make me sick.

And....what a lousy congressman he would make

Just what we need, another wacko thinking they are "leaders". Go back to Rehobeth, bucko.

6:27-This may sound petty, but seeing the old mall property still vacant after all of these years makes me sick.Multiple corporations have expressed an interest in that property, but local opposition that actually became hostile at times (seriously)thwarted their efforts. There is nothing normal about a very small group of people fighting tooth and nail to impede progress. An entire generation has grown up without seeing anything there but a big vacant lot.Maybe the next 4 years will change all of that. Not one single person has taken the initiative to even contact any of the companies who expressed an interest in the past.Definately not suitable for another mall however.

Muir Boda won with 80 votes. Turnout was absolutely pathetic for this election.

Ireton...the rest of the voters in this district aren't as gullible as the "voters" inside of the Salisbury city limits...don't waste your money

So, Jimbo quit his job after his first election, and now he wants to quit after this 4th election? I guess 2 out of 4 ain't bad...

apparently 207 people have never heard of him before.

I just hope that good people of Maryland are smart enough to look at his past performance in Salisbury.
If they do he will probably get 207 votes when he runs for congress.

The rest of Maryland is not nearly as STUPID as the citizens of Salisbury. This guy is a rainbow colored clown.

are you trying to say that teachers are inferior to doctors? I am not trying to say Ireton is good for Salisbury, but for you to insinuate that teachers aren't as good as doctors is complete crap. Teachers are incredible and deserve more respect and gratitude (from parents & the community, not just students) than they currently get.

7:20, get a grip. The old mall is not vacant because of a small group that insisted the law be followed. In fact, their efforts got the plan revised to something better for Salisbury.

The developers were trying to develop into a downhill market. That is stupid right there. The old mall is still vacant because of that stupidity and because there is NO MARKET HERE IN SALISBURY. If you owned a company, would you buy that overpriced piece of land?

Stop and think about this: Harris Teeter went to SELBYVILLE, saying Salisbury didn't have the market it needed. That should tell you something.

Anonymous said...

It is all so much fun to watch the heads explode on here the day after an election. Going to be fantastic in twelve months when Hillary is elected.

Anonymous said...

7:20. What companies expressed an interest in the old mall? I have not heard about a single one. Do tell.

Anonymous said...

Ireton is eyeing the 1st congress district because he knows he can't beat Carl Anderton for the delegate's seat.

Thinking the Dems could buy him Andy Harris' seat is pretty over the top.

9:53 sounds like Chuck Cook or Ireton.

Bernie Sanders over Hillary any day. Just say goodbye to Bush and Clinton. The country has had enough of that.

Don't blame ireton and day for results of an election.Blame the lazy, irresponsible, trash talking, non committal, ignorant, don't give a hoot, cowards, country bumpkin, and stupid voters. You dumb azz come on this blog and voice your opinion everyday as if you all are prepared to do the right thing for your communities. But, you all do nothing but, blog, blog and blog. You didn't shut up enough and put up the votes needed to get rid of the bags of trash. You all do this every election year after year. Then you dummies spend those years complaining about these candidates anonymously like the cowards you are. Please just shut the hell up and deal with these elected officials you all didn't bother to vote out. Deal with them. This whole ordeal is so frustrating because so many Americans died in this country so that you could have the right vote. This lack of interest you dummies have will cost you your freedom. It give the government more control over your destiny. And, allow people like Hildabeast the opportunity to get what she thinks she is entitled to. The Presidency of the United States. Keep wasting the right and privilege to vote. And, stop crying when things don't go your way.

9:53 AM - Please correct me if I a wrong the but plans for the old mall are EXACTLY the same as what was built in front of the college and is doing just fine?

Store fronts 1st level, apts on top?

So do tell, how is that such a stupid idea when it seemed to be a successful idea in that instance.

And honestly as an Eastsider, we would welcome the businesses.

Anonymous said...

9:55-Burlington Coat Factory is the only retail only interest that I am aware of.The others were residential/retail/entertainment concerns that could not get the city to work with them on taxes and city services or anything else that would create an attractive location. You nor I don't venture where we are not wanted. Why should a corporation feel any differently?

Anonymous said...

10:09, the group got them to lower density to a more appropriate level. Remember, that place isn't just commercial. Lots of small family home neighborhoods there. Their idea wasn't stupid. Their timing was stupid.

Even if that group hadn't shown up to object to the zoning violation, which the court said they were right about, those guys wouldn't have come close to getting that project built before the bottom would fall out. Hell, they wouldn't even tear down the old wreck of building they let rot until they were forced to and the city still had to go after them to get it done!

Remember the unfinished condos sitting on Fitzwater? That's what you would have been looking at every day as an "East sider."

The one by the college works because...wait for it...it is by the college. And...wait for it...that is college housing above those stores, also known as rentals. The homes at the old mall were supposed to be all or mostly homebuyer purchased. Have you looked at the rest of Salisbury lately? The number of foreclosures? The house sale prices dropping like a rock?

The one by the college is flanked by the college and commercial, not by family home neighborhoods.

You add all these factors up and you are blaming the wrong people for the old mall sitting there. In fact, if memory serves, those were the same people who fought to get that eyesore torn down when the developers wouldn't do it. You should be thanking them instead of dissing them.

But go ahead and believe the likes of Barrie Tilghman and the daily rag. The powers-that-be that don't get a damn thing done that's good for Salisbury love people like you who buy into that propaganda.

Former East Sider

Not saying anything like you insinuate. First of all Dr. Harris spent many more years preparing for his profession before he could practice it than you did as a teacher. Secondly, I am a retired teacher. Lastly, Dr. Harris can anesthetize you...which might be a good idea...keep on teaching!

10:08 AM...you are correct...can't blame the worthless politicians. They knew exactly what would happen and planned accordingly. It's the idiots who voted for them and the lazy, non-caring people who could have voted but didn't that are the blame....

maybe the city of Bury should allow everyone that are affected by the idiot politicians to vote...would be a different story

Amen!!! Best comment if the day.

10:14, very interesting. (BTW, I'm not one of the other commenters or the one who asked the question.)

I had no idea there was any interest from any company in that property. See how much us little folks get informed.

But it makes me wonder who in the city they talked to. I asked a member of council a couple of years ago if they had heard anything on the old mall (interest, status, etc.) and they said they hadn't heard anything, certainly nothing had come before the council.

Your comment makes me wonder if Jim "207" Ireton was the roadblock and if he kept information from the council?

I am a Republican who crosses party lines. My wife is a Democrat who crosses party lines.

We are not in Salisbury but if we were, neither of us would have voted for Ireeton.

Why? Because that man help up a bumper sticker that said "I hate Republicans." My wife was so embarrassed when she saw that photo, she talked about it for days.

Thank you for showing us that, Joe. We would never support a man who celebrates hating anyone. We do not like many things on this blog, but we do not believe you have celebrated hating anyone for their party, color, religion, etc. If Ireton runs for Congress, it will be both our pleasure to vote for "Anyone But Ireton."

Anonymous said...

Not really true due to the bizarre boundaries of the new districts. Joe, could you publish them along with the ones proposed by the previous council? Jim refused to sen those to the state so he could pull this off?

I would like to know how many dead people, and how many people who no longer live here that voted yesterday. I'm sure they were all democrats.

Anonymous said...

10:33 "I" didn't blame anyone. You are the one who said it was a "stupid" idea. I stated it was not and asked why you thought that. WTF is wrong with the people in this community that you can not even explain your thoughts without making up bogus accusations and insults? Just simply propose your facts and leave it at that.

And unless you have a crystal ball you can not state as fact that this retail/condo project was guaranteed to fail.

There is a vaguely similar retail/apt scenario behind the mall that seems to be successful because there is much to offer and unless they build up the east side with offerings other than the little out here, it will not change.

Convenience is everything and our options are few on this side of town. Maybe a blessing in disguise..

I agree that the timing was problematic, I do not agree that the plan was bad, there are more people out in this area than you imagine. We have just gotten used to having to travel farther to get what we want.

As silly as this sounds I don't think burger king would go thru the expense to demolish and rebuild an unsuccessful restaurant. There is money and a denser population out here than most people realize

of course teachers are inferior. they just repeat what someone else has told them, true or not. doctors do save lives now and then. no comparison.

on a blog? No, I think it is more that you have to attack people over seemingly bad grammar and spelling because a) it makes you feel you might be smarter and b) you really don't have anything to add on your own.

The message is more important than the syntax. This blog and this area, in general, is far removed from being anywhere close to professional grade so what is the point? To impress you?

People's comments are not on a job application or a power point presentation. There is a time and place for everything.

JoeAlbero said...

11:29, First of all, thank you for your comment. My only argument to your statement is, on January 1st of each year we publish the traffic we have for SBYNews. I think once you see what our numbers are you'll quickly change your mind.

Salisbury News is by far the most influential political Blog in Maryland and Delaware. Our local traffic far surpasses ANY news source here on the Shore.

Now we may not be the "professional grade" that you desire but here's what I will say. Obviously you are not only here on a regular basis to know what we are or aren't, there are millions of others who also follow us on a regular basis.

It is very easy for others to say I'm not telling the truth and I'm cool with that. However, there are thousands of people I run into on a regular basis in which I immediately show them our current traffic LIVE so they can see for themselves that what I state is a FACT. Hence WHY the rest of the local media refuses to show their numbers.

They know how well we do and they cannot deny it or challenge it. How do I know that, because I even show them when I see them in person. Their first reaction, HOLY CRAP is the usual response.

So the "on a blog" statement has no juice any more. ON THIS BLOG we rule the news and THAT I am very proud of.

It's the voters fault They elected him four times after he bailed the first time because he was so overwhelmed he ran away to Baltimore. Ireton knew he was going to get demolished by Day. Demolished. And he can't take losing. It's winning at ALL costs in his mind. Adulation over helping the people. He is like another flaming liberal like Chuck Schumer --- he never met a camera he didn't like. His antics have been tolerated because no one else wants the job. He gets 200 votes and has the stones to think he could BEAT Andy Harris. He couldn't beat Jake Day in the 'bury but he thinks he is going to turn blue a red congressional district. It's all a game to Ireton. The joke is on the voters. It's all about him. He will self destruct one day. It's surprising it hasn't happened by now. He is headed on a collision course with a career ending headline. Just wait.

I didn't realize that Salisbury has one of the largest population of gays on the East Coast per population. Glad I don't live there.

I don't get you people arguing about the old mall. Kind of off-topic. One thing though. One of you keeps saying it was to be a condo over retail like the one by SU.

Actually, that's not true. It was a full blown mixed neighborhood of single family homes and townhouses with neighborhood retail. And a man-made lake. Not the same plan or scale as the one by SU at all.

As for Ireton, what is there to say? He runs for office to run for office for his own ego, not because he wants to serve anyone. He bailed after his first election. He rode Debbie Campbell's coattails for his second election. He threw her to the dogs for his third election. He rode Jake Day's coattails for his 4th and lower status election, which wasn't even as impressive as his first council win because it's a little district now.

He has peaked.

The city can now continue to pay the legal bills for all the lawsuits that were filed under his tenure. Wonder how many more will be created as he screams and cusses his way through the council?

Ireton has peaked. I agree with the other post about Salisbury saving its pennies to pay for Jimmy's queeny arm flailing hissy fits as he slurs or lisps away at a city employee. Chambers - poor woman - saw it all too well. Chambers seemed from what I read a competent and good employee and one of few African Americans. And Jimmy can't take it. That's another topic around the 'bury. His penchant for using racial slurs or words like that about women. And only in Salisbury can the Mayor run for a Council seat and pretend its a PROMOTION! Un-freakin-believable. Until two seconds after he wins the election and the 207 fools who voted for him find out he's a runnin for Congress. On a real mission to be Gansler's running mate in 2018. People wake up! All he does is run for office to make himself feel good or important. He needs a psychiatrist not another office.
