Southern Delaware Therapeutic Riding holds open house

Southern Delaware Therapeutic Riding welcomed local residents to its open house June 29 at its new location near Milton. Visitors were able to enjoy food and drinks, tours of the farm and petting some gentle horses at the farm.

The mission of SDTR is to provide equine-assisted therapy promoting the physical, emotional and educational growth of children and adults with disabilities in the community. It is a 501c3, nonprofit, PATH (Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International) affiliated center located in Eastern Sussex County. Presently, they are the only PATH-affiliated center in Sussex and Kent counties.

The PATH-certified therapeutic riding instructors and trained volunteers have provided planned sessions in equine-assisted therapy to children and adults with disabilities since 1988.
