Ford Offering $10,000 Discount on New Aluminum F-150 Pickup

Ford Motor Co. has begun offering discounts that can exceed $10,000 on its new aluminum-bodied F-150 pickup, which has been losing sales and market share this year as the automaker works to build inventory on dealer lots.

The company’s website offers “up to $10,029 in total savings” on a 2015 F-150 XLT SuperCab 4X4 with the luxury chrome or sport package in some U.S. regions. That model comes with a discount of $7,050 in other areas, according to Ford.com.

U.S. sales slid 8.9 percent last month for Ford’s F-Series pickups, its top-selling line and most profitable vehicles. The truck’s share of the big-pickup market fell to 28 percent in June from 33 percent a year earlier, according to researcher Autodata Corp. Ford blamed tight inventory caused by the conversion of two plants to build the trucks, the first mass- market vehicles to use lightweight aluminum so extensively.

“The truck hasn’t sold up to expectations for the most part,” Akshay Anand, an analyst at auto researcher Kelley Blue Book, said in an e-mail. “This may be a hint that in certain parts of the country, the issue might just be more than supply.”

That's because pick up trucks are wildly over priced.

Over priced and made with cheap materials. No wonder consumers are looking elsewhere. I switched to Toyota and Honda years ago because of this.

Try making them with 8 foot beds again. At my store, drywall, plywood, and studs are not sold in 4 and 6 foot lengths!

I suggest you buy a Chevy pick up. They now offer a free tow rope at no extra cost!

Good one
Being a fellow contractor for so long I have to agree.
Trucks are made for all the pretty boys to ride around in these days not made for the true working man.
You got me laughing on that one
Again good one

Sorry, 419, but Chevy 8 foot beds are rare as hen's teeth as well. Seems with the construction crash, there's no need anymore, so it begs the question, why buy a pickup truck?

If there's nothing to pick up but a Christmas toy, just get a car.

No need to get a 400 HP monster at 9 MPG to bring a hobby horse home.

But, if you are doing construction and in need of an 8 foot bed, there some special order models you can pay tens of thousands for, or some old antique qualified junkers out there for sale.

And, no, tow ropes are only offered on Chevy TOW TRUCKS, because it only makes good sense!

I would not buy a new vehicle in Salisbury. Went to the mall last year and the Dodge dealer had a sale. Went they told me a price on sat. told me take it home enjoy. I said no I'll be in on Monday to do the deal. Well walk in to the loan officer he gives me a price 4000 dollars more than what was said at the mall on Saturday. Screw ALL the dealer's in Salisbury. Went to Delaware told them what happened bought a brand new truck for what they told me at the mall on Saturday on Thursday.
