CONSERVATIVE SOUTH CAROLINA STATE SENATOR PREVIEWS PLANS TO BATTLE ESTABLISHMENT PUSH TO RIP DOWN FLAG

Nine dollars per minute. Fifty-three thousand American dollars per day.

This is what it will take to defeat “that damn Confederate flag.” Is that worth it to the taxpayers of South Carolina?

Senator Tom Davis, of Beaufort, says that “debate on the Confederate Battle Flag in the Senate it would likely take a minimum of two weeks, and perhaps longer,” and, considering Davis’ last cause (defeating a gas-tax increase), may actually take longer given the State Senate’s desire to give every member his or her own say. “This isn’t an issue where the State Senate will cut off debate in any sort of expedited manner,” says Davis. “There will be every effort made to ensure that senators will have every opportunity to say everything they want to say.”

I’ve talked to many a legislator regarding “the flag,” and they are saying 99% of the emails, snail mail, or phone calls they are getting, come from people who are not South Carolinians. They do not have a say in this matter. Much like what actually spurred on the Civil War, these people are coming in from a national level and telling South Carolina how to run its government—and, as it did then, it’s working.

As Governor Nikki Haley is known to do, she is predictably kowtowing to national pressure. For instance, as Haley said in her ’04 House election, “It was settled and it has been put away. And I don’t have any intentions of bringing it back up or making it an issue.” (Emphasis mine.) In addition to her damning quote, her spokesman Rob Godfrey said, “if the people aren’t focused on the flag, it’s hard to see why the governor and General Assembly should be.”

Just take the stupid thing down and be done with it.Please do it before more people come along and re write Civil War history (among other things). This issue should not be taking on a life of it's own.Daniel Snyder should be ecstatic. Now the "Redskins" are'nt taking the heat, but Katie bar the doors once the Confederate flag has officially been eliminated.Native Americans will consider that their go ahead sign.

So ignorant. That disgusting symbol of hate should have been removed a long time ago.

Tom Davis is a POS turncoat and I hope he is thrown out of office just like Governor David Beasley was after his 2000 stunt that brought the flag down from the State House. That flag means more to more people than it offends.

This Flag Flap is really bringing out the true colors of the RINO's!!

Speaking of ignorance, you just proved that you have no idea about Southern heritage.

Speaking of ignorance, why is it that you don't have to tolerate the Confederate Battle Flag, but we have to tolerate your hatred for it.

I don't see anything stupid about it. The only thing I see stupid is your comment.

The flag has nothing to do with racism or slavery it's just a target being used to keep racism alive by leftwing media.

If it went to the supreme court the request would probably be denied due to freedom of speech. I don't agree with it being on a state buildings or license plates, should be banned in all government places. The government shouldn't have the power to decide for others, if the people don't like that flag, don't buy anything from South Carolina, no crabs, crabmeat, fish, shrimp, don't go to their beaches, don't go camping there, don't go to the mountains and don't golf or vacation there, that's the best way to bring that flag down.

That flag was put on the state house in 1961 to intimidate blacks during the struggle for civil rights.

First thing is to recall the govenor
Next is to recall every republican who is voting in favor of giving the white house the ability to decide trade and send more jobs outside the US.

12:50 Did you really think the Republicans in congress would look after the working man? That is not who they represent.

This is all a sham designed to divert our attention from what Obama is doing to our country. And the news agencies are cooperating with him by hiding the skulduggery happening everywhere. Do you see anything about the thousands of "refugees" being imported and living high on govt money? OR the new taxes being levied on everything including sex??

I think you are right. While we are all watching his left hand his right hand is up to no good.
