A two-year-old case involving the shooting death of an unarmed 18-year-old white man by a black police officer is gaining attention on social media in the wake of the protests and rioting in Ferguson, Missouri.
Gilbert Collar, a white, unarmed 18-year-old under the influence of drugs was shot and killed Oct. 6, 2012, by Officer Trevis Austin, who is black, in Mobile, Alabama. Despite public pressure for an indictment, a Mobile County grand jury refused to bring charges against Officer Austin, concluding that the officer acted in self-defense.
The circumstances mirror those of the Aug. 9 shooting death of Michael Brown, a black unarmed 18-year-old under the influence of drugs by Officer Darren Wilson, who is white, in Ferguson.
Former CNN host Piers Morgan blasted the police response in Mobile days after Collar was killed, saying he “didn’t deserve to die,” but otherwise the case has received little attention outside Alabama, prompting critics to accuse the national media of a “whiteout.”

This is an interesting post and what it proves is that police in general are out of control. I beg of you and others to not let the race issue blind you to the fact that the process of how officers are trained needs to be re-evaluated. One question I have is why rubber bullets or some other kind of projectile objects aren't used more often? They are used in riot control situations but in everyday situations you never hear of them being used. They are useful and effective projectile objects but are mush less lethal. Should the goal be to stop a person or to kill them?
The lesson here is that 'White Lives Don't Matter'.
Sorry, but you're both absolutely wrong. When a perp charges an arresting officer with a drug induced intent to do harm. he is starting a fight the involves a deadly firearm. Whoever controls the firearm, wins the fight.
Too bad he lost that fight, but it's just not a race issue, period.
